I was wondering with carnival ship has the most fun days at sea for those that like the cruising part more then the days at port.

Typically there are 3 ports of call on the 7 and 8 day cruises, sometimes 4 port days. If you go to www.carnival.com and check itineraries you can see what ship has what itinerary and how many port versus sea days. For me, I prefer no more than 3 port days and I like the 8 day cruises.

I agree with Lainie. We've done 3 ports in 7 days and 4 ports in 7 days, and four are just too many, too tiring. So, we're booked on the Legend in January for 8 days and only 3 ports. Sounds like fun!

That is kinda correct it all depends on the itenerary. If you look at the Baja run you have the Ecstasy that does Catalina and Ensenada on a 4 day cruise. But you look at RCI they have put the Monarch on that run to compete with the Ecstasy except its 4 day run consists of Catalina, Ensenada and San Dieago sp? so on some sailing yes other no. But all sailing regardless of the cruiseline it is pretty standard stuff 3 days get one port 4 days get 2 and seven gets 3 or 4.

I wonder how they'd do with one ship as an experiement where they had 6 "fun days at sea" and 1 day port of call... I'd think it would be a lot of fun. What do you think?

I'd be ok with that -- ONE LOOOONG day in one port and the rest at sea. For me, the sea days are the best days! =bigwave

The Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary II make regular crossings from London to New York with 6 sea days. There are a number of repositioning cruises, between Europe and the US, that offer various combinations of itineraries that include stretches of five or six sea days in a row. Trans-Atlantic repositioning cruise are scheduled for spring and fall and for six to fifteen day periods. If you really enjoy sea days these cruises are ideal.

Ideal 7 day cruise IMO would be:
sea/ port/ sea/ port / sea/ port/ sea
that it would rarely be possible doesn't matter.

Some of our friends live close to NO and have been on several Cruise to NoWhere. They love them. You just cruise - I think they only last a weekend or so. Don't know what cruise lines they use. But if you live close to a port you can really have a good time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I live in Kansas.... OOPS

Re: More

Jester...

As some people have mentioned here They've "done" the 8 day Eastern Carribean run with Carnival Legend four days at sea in total.

I personnaly have no idea whatsoever how you "DO" a port. When I've sailed down to the eastern carribean round trip to NY save for the swim with the dolphins, some of the best times I've had were the four days on the Legend..

That's my two cents..

Re: More

That is funny because we totally pick the ship with the most port days. We aren't big drinkers, don't gamble and try to avoid laying around a pool. We wanted to do the Pride for our next trip but no one liked the looks of three days at sea. I can read all day and be happy but hubby goes a little nuts.

We only do seven day cruises and two days at sea is the most we can take. The ship isn't the destination for us the ports are. I don't think we would ever do a cruise to nowhere. Hee.

Interesting responses from all of you. The last comment about going on cruises only for the ports of call though just is opposite from most of us... If I was cruising just to get to be at those carribean Islands , then I'd book a trip without the cruise part and would fly to the actual resort... Sounds like you and hubby should consider this instead of cruises.
But I liked some of the other ideas , day on , day off... day on , day off.... etc...

Hopefully carnival will read this post..

Just got off the Monarch of the Seas 4 day baja- no sea days, 3 ports.

On the guest comment card I mentioned I'd prefer a sea day to San Diego...

Going on the Ecstasy 4 day (which doesn't stop in SD) 1-12-04 but prefer the Monarch.
