More lawless?

Previous posts have suggested that cruisers need to be more careful in foreign ports especially when they travel with their families. Has that danger increased in the ports where hurricane damage has destroyed a some of the ways people used to secure their tourist income?
Places like Belize City have been described by numerous posters as not a very safe place in the best of times. Is it fair to assume that if that location has experienced weather damage and a resultant loss of income to some, the values that suggest theft as an alternative might be more rampant?
I hope this doesn't sound uncaring but quite frankly, I'm concerned about my family first.

Even without hurricanes or weather related stuff-- to keep your families safe--keep your wits about you. Just because we are on vacation dont mean we leave our safeguards down.

Too many people do that-- thinking they paid a lot of money for this vacation and they forget about their own security.

But if the places were not safe to visit the cruise lines will not go there. Look at St Croix.. was a cruiseline port stop until stuff was happening..now no cruiselines go there at all.

Belieze is a stop that you can not go off by yourself--you need an excursion through the cruiselines or through a vendor. I am sure some people will try to di it themselves..but that itself is crazy. Even the Crusie director tells people you need an excursion or stay onboard.
