With all of the posts about cameras lately, I thought I would throw out a developing tip for everyone using underwater OTUCs (they hate it when you call them disposable, they are one time use cameras) When you are ready to have them developed, take them to a minilab, not a supermarked drop off, etc. Tell the processor that they are underwater photos, and to "push plus 2 magenta" when they print them. You would be amazed what that does to bring out the details. My son had his Belize cave tubing photos done at another store, and was complaining that you couldn't see details, like the barracuda he snapped,. I swiped his negs and took them to work with me, and adjusted them. WOW, huge difference. Needless to say he was pleased.

Thanks!

Would you know if there are certain settings on digital cameras with underwater casings that should be used when photographing fish, etc underwater? I always seem to get too much blue/green colors and sometimes backscatter from the flash and every once in a while I'll get a good pic!

I don't know if you can set the camera to get any better results, however if you have a good imaging program on your computer, you can achieve the same results by adding red or magenta until the details come out. Not sure why it works, but it really does. Sometimes even 1 yellow helps. I have Dell Image Expert for my editing program, it has a Quick Fix button that does really amazing thinks to photos. We went to Coral World in St Thomas, where we were inside and photographed fish thru the window. It worked best without the flash at all, then the Image Expert brought out details. Wish I could tell you more. connie
