1. We're flying in the day before and looking for a place to stay that will take us to the port or be able to walk. Is there anything close so we can watch the ships come in the day before that's not more than $150.00 a night?

4. The only 2 times we've went we were upgraded at least one level. Does this happen often or did we just get lucky?

If you booked in a GTY category is is likely you'll get upgraded a bit but it's luck of the draw.  As a past passenger the chances are better.
