MOSQUITOS!

Anyone who has recently sailed on the Norweigen Sun (or any other ship) to Belize and Roatan, did you have any problems with mosquito bites? More specifically on the cave tubing excursion or dolphin swim. Have been told I should take anti malaria pills to ward off possible maliaria exposure from said mosquitos!

Has anyone ever heard of a cruise ship passenger contracting malaria, or having excessive bites and just being very uncomfortable? Any input from anyone with related experience greatfully received.

You are welcome to email me at applezz13@comcast.net.

Thanks,

Debi

We sailed last Oct. on the Carnival Pride to Belize. I took the cave tubing excursion. The guides strongly advised LOTS of insect repellant. We applied it before entering the water and no one seemed to have a problem with bites. I would buy a very strong repellant but take it from home as it is expensive on the ship. We also found some citronella patches (called "Skeeters" maybe), and they seem to be affective.

Are the mosquitos bad year round in Belize? I'm headed there in late April/ early May and I plan on cave tubing also. How was your experience? Did you plann through Carnival?
