MSC Cruises, the number one luxury cruise company in Brazil and South America, is assembling its largest ever fleet in the region for what is set to be its longest and most varied South American Season.

Six splendid examples of the distinctively Italian MSC fleet - the most modern cruise fleet in the world - will be cruising the South American coastline from mid October 2009 to mid-May 2010, offering a flexible choice of 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, 8- and 9-night itineraries.

This season, more than 140 cruises will bring a total of 330,000 guests to experience the natural beauties, vibrant cities and nightlife which have made the region an increasingly popular holiday choice, with the International Tourism Organisation now ranking Brazil the 6th most-desired cruise country in the world and home of 40 of the world's most-dreamed-of holiday destinations. The 2009-2010 season cruises will depart from the spectacular ports of Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Buenos Aires, calling at Ilhéus, Maceiό, Ilhabela, Ilha Grande, Punta Del Este, Búzios, Ubatuba, Recife, Fortaleza, Cabedelo and Montevidéo.

MSC Lirica will commence the season, her first in Brazilian waters, sailing from Santos on 23 October 2009 and calling at Rio de Janeiro, Búzios, Ubatuba and Santos. She will be joined by MSC Musica, MSC Opera, MSC Melody, MSC Armonia and MSC Orchestra, the latter also sailing Brazilian coasts for the first time in her career.

Offering gourmet cuisine from Italy and around the world in an acclaimed variety of restaurants, the ships will serve an astonishing 72,000 different dishes, freshly prepared using 2,500 ingredients, including 109 different fruits.

Adding further spice to the experience, MSC is offering several special themed cruises for guests to pursue existing passions or explore new ones. Building on the immense popularity of these cruises and their ability to bring like-minded people together in lifelong friendships, MSC Cruzeiros has created three more entirely-new themed cruises: Bossa Nova - centred on this vibrant music, its artists and roots, Dolce Vita - which takes you on a journey in the cultivation of physical, mental and spiritual balance, and - last but not least - Humour, which takes a light yet thorough look at laughter in all its forms, from impersonation to slapstick and stand-up. Extending across the season, MSC Cruises guests can choose from the following themes and departure dates:
