The partnership between MSC Cruises and the city of Genoa is getting stronger by the minute.

From 4 May there will be three new weekly charter flights to connect Genoa with Hamburg, Cologne and Vienna, while a new flight will be added to London. In total, around 22,000 more passengers will be going in and out of the Cristoforo Colombo airport in Genoa.

Each Sunday, from 4 May to 19 October 2008, to coincide with MSC Orchestra sailings, there will be three flights to Hamburg, Vienna and London.

Flight DE 6012 will leave Hamburg at 9:00am and reach the Ligurian capital at 10:55am. The return flight DE 8876 is scheduled for 11:35am, arriving at 1:35pm.

Flight NE 6390 will leave Vienna at 12:00am and land in Genoa at 1:35pm, with a return scheduled for departure at 2:15pm, arriving at 3:50pm with the flight NE 6391.

The UK, on the other hand, will be connected by flight B737 leaving London every Sunday from 18 May until 26 October 2008, at 9:50am, landing in Genoa at 12:50am, with a return scheduled for departure at 1:45pm, landing at 2:45pm.

Then there is the Cologne flight, scheduled each Monday until 13 October 2008, leaving at 10:45am and arriving in Genoa at 12:20pm to coincide with sailing of the MSC Sinfonia. Return flights will leave at 1:05pm and land in Germany at 2:45pm.

All flights were planned to fit in with arrivals and departures of the cruise liners to allow the many overseas guests travelling with MSC Cruises easier direct embarkation thanks to smooth connections with their home cities. For this reason, easy baggage transfer directly to cabins has also been arranged thanks to an agreement with Genoa airport, the local authorities and ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority).

"With the start of these four new flights, MSC Cruises confirms the key role played by Genoa in the company's strategic planning," says Domenico Pellegrino, Managing Director of MSC Crociere. "Our fleet has chosen the Ligurian capital as its home port for all its Western Mediterranean departures. In 2008, our ships will dock in the port of Genoa 175 times, generating an extra 24% of passenger traffic compared to the previous year. The opportunity to involve urban infrastructures like the Cristoforo Colombo airport in our development generates synergies that improve the quality of services and the economic contribution to the territory. It was in this context that we installed an MSC Lounge in the airport building, reserved for our passengers coming to and leaving from Genoa."

"As overseas markets consolidate, we seek to offer our clientele increasingly appealing services," says Achille Staiano, MSC Cruises Commercial Manager International Market. "At Cristoforo Colombo airport there is also an MSC Lounge reserved for transit guests. For us, Genoa is a strategic port: the success achieved year after year encourages us to make greater investments in the city. With the expansion of overseas markets, there will be larger numbers of passengers in transit through Liguria".
