MSC Cruises, the Italian styled cruise company, has just scooped the Best Burger at Sea award from Cruise News Daily in the United States - and that's quite a kudo from a media outlet in the home country of this classic American creation.

"MSC has found the secret to good burgers, and that's why Alan Wilson, Cruise News Daily, recognized them for „Best Burger at Sea. Mark it down as a „must have on your next MSC cruise," as stated in the daily e-newsletter.

It is the second successive foodie award bestowed on MSC Cruises by Cruise News Daily. Last Year, it awarded MSC Cruises the Best Pizza at Sea.

According to Alan Wilson, MSC Cruises has an unassuming section of the regular indoor buffet instead of a pool-side grill set aside for burgers, hot dogs, and all the toppings.

"While other lines are apparently trying to create the healthiest burgers by using the leanest possible beef (or other ground meats), MSC chefs have realized that's not the way to make a great burger," said Alan Wilson.

He added, "MSC doesn't cook their burgers to order and then assemble them for you. Even though they don't call it that, they have a true burger bar within their buffet. The meat is served separately from various types of rolls to put them on, next to an array of toppings, including the standard toppings that Americans expect, but also a European twist, such as spinach rather than plain lettuce".
