MSC Cruises Has Just Posted the Following:
MSC Fantasia, the new flagship in the acclaimed MSC Cruisesfleet is more than just the largest and most luxurious cruise liner to be commissioned by a European owner, it sets entirely new standards in maritime interior design. Historic art and architecture, water and the changing shapes of sails provide the unifying elements in this incredible ship, making every cruise a journey not just in space but in time.
The large central Piazza San Giorgio in historic Genoese style takes your breath away, complete with original frescoes by Sandro Cubeddu and a stone loggia that leads out from its shopping precinct to pools, theatre, bars lounges, restaurants and discotheques. Each of these areas is a beautifully conceived work of art with its own distinct identity like a separate building and always a delight to explore thanks to the incredible overall vision, attention to detail and craftsmanship of the finest materials. No less impressive than the virtuoso creative variety of De Jorio Design International, however, is their constant focus on the human at the centre of each creation, conceived not for its own sake but to stimulate and interact with the people inside it, enabling every moment to become an unforgettable personal experience.
The L'Avanguardia theatre is a perfect example, with its performance-orientated sculptural and structural innovations. Curved metal and plexiglass enrobe all three dimensions of the auditorium, diffusing and reflecting the state-of-the art lighting to transform it, creating a powerful yet constantly-changing atmosphere to suit each scene and show, suspending every member of the audience in a reality made all the more compelling by the alternating seat heights, which increase your intimacy with the event.
The Insolito Lounge, the ship's second-largest versatile entertainment and dance area is true to its name, which means "out-of-the ordinary" in Italian, with innovative, intimate group "corner" seating clustered around an incredible central dance floor. Combining art nouveau curves and light with ethnic geometric designs, its bold red-orange glass surfaces feature a rhythmic crackle effect which reflects the myriad light of a Swarovski crystal chandelier overhead, energizing the large oval dance floor and circular central bar.
The Sports Bar takes the pub drinks and food concept and builds it around those two perennial sports favourites, Football and Motor Racing, each with its own themed area served by mobile games terminals and colour monitors. The Football decor plays to tradition, with comfortable leather settees, wooden walls, decorative steel trim and football emblem carpets, while the motor sport area is all Ferrari red and aluminium with a contrasting rustic wooden floor. Alongside the bar you can admire the world-championship-winning MV Agusta motorcycle that took the legendary Giacomo Agostini to victory.
Next door you'll find the The Manhattan Bar, which pays homage to those two great contemporaries, Jazz and Abstract Art. Square and rectangular niches of colour send a an impromptu beat out across the dark grey walls, echoing the architecture of Le Corbusier, traversed by waves of coloured glass, evoking the fusion of instinct and order that is jazz.
These are just a few a few examples of the world waiting to be explored in the MSC Fantasia. With rooms that include the avant-garde Jazz bar with its internally-illuminated surfaces and LED lighting, or the private reception of the exclusive MSC Yacht Club with its airy transparent ceiling, parquet and marble inlay floor and Swarovski crystal staircase, the MSC Fantasia simply has to be experienced to be understood. The same creative thought can be found in every area, from the geometric steel and dark wooden walls of the nearby Plaza Gallery to the Cappuccino Coffee Bar, with its chocolate theme expressed in parquet, caramel onyx and chocolate-bar-shaped wall panels, providing a visual complement to the rich aromas of the chocolate and coffee served within. Dining on the MSC Fantasia is a feast for all the senses. The Red Velvet Restaurant extends over two decks of elegant warm colours and light, its keynote red velvet, golden-framed niches, red wooden wall panelling and original Murano glass lamps creating an ambience that focuses attention inwards on and embraces each group of diners.
The Il Cerchio d'Oro Restaurant, on the other hand, stretches out across the stern to offer breath-taking views outside, framed by classic lines in contemporary materials - light walnut lacquers, polished marble and the decorative, circular golden grills which bring this exceptional restaurant its name. To complete the circle, simply dine while the sun sets.
From the sun to the stars, the MSC Fantasia's Belle Époque French restaurant, L'Etoile, takes you to another place and time, Haussmann's Paris, with its stone arches, deep-buttoned upholstery, light grey drapery, black marbled floors and wrought iron balconies. In every case you don't just eat fine food, you experience the culture that produced it.
For the magic hours, there's the Liquid Disco, projecting over the pools and fountains of the Acquapark on stilts, suspended like dance in space and time, pulsating in fluid movement with "pools" of glass on the walls and floor, and trickles of coloured resin on the walls and ceilings.
The same creativity can be seen in the in the children's areas, including The North Pole playroom and pool themed on, you've guessed it, the North Pole, evoked in white and blue resin ice with Northern Lights that come to life with tri - tone fibre optics.
That is why, whatever your age or itinerary, every aspect of the extraordinary MSC Fantasia takes you on a unique journey of exploration and discovery that begins before you've even left port and will remain with you for a lifetime.
