MSC Cruises Has Just Posted the Following:
The construction of MSC Fantasiais making rapid progress at the Aker Yards in Saint-Nazaire, France. She will be christened in Naples on 18 December 2008.
MSC Fantasia is the largest ship to be commissioned by a European shipowner. It will introduce a new concept of cruising, making MSC Cruises a pioneer of the new trend for holidays at sea.
MSC Fantasia will be the first ship to have an exclusive VIP area called MSC Yacht Clubwith 99 spacious suites. Other reserved areas will include a bar, solarium, two hot tubs, a pool with a skydome, an observation lounge (an area with its own bar and concierge, plus a magnificent panoramic view) and, above all, a 24-hour Butler Service, with one butler for every five suites.
MSC Fantasia will be 133,500 grt, 333 metres long, 38 metres wide and almost 60 metres high. It is six times as tall as the Tower of Pisa, nine metres taller than the Eiffel Tower and as high as a 23-storey building. Its maximum speed will be 23 knots and its propulsion will be 40,000 kW, the equivalent of 120 Ferraris or 1,000 Fiat Puntos. There will be 1,800 km of electrical cables (the distance between Naples to Nantes) and 65,000 light fittings.

- 1,637 cabins, for 3,959 passengers and 1,325 crew members: 80% of the cabins will be external, with 107 suites. The cabins will range from 18 to 65 square metres;
- 27,000 square metres of public area: a theatre (1,700 seats), a well-being centre called the MSC Aurea Spa (1,500 square metres), 5 restaurants (6,000 square meters in total) including a TexMex restaurant with open kitchen and a panoramic restaurant, four pools (three external and one with a retractable roof) with 12 hydro-massage tubs, a wine bar, a coffee bar and another 20 bars, including the Sports Bar and the Jazz Bar. There will also be shops, a casino, a disco, a Formula 1 simulator and a 4D cinema - all this dedicatedto passenger comfort and enjoyment;
- Children's area: 400 square metres dedicated to our younger guests, with a water slide straddling two decks beside the disco, with amazing scenic views. The Aqua Park will have 150 fountains that will light up at night to the rhythm of music. There will be three fun areas: Miniclub, Junior Club and Teenager Club.
