MSC Orchestra will cruise to some of the loveliest western Mediterranean destinations.

Sister ship to the flagship MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra features 22,000 square metres of public area with a spa that covers 1,200 square metres. In all, she offers a perfect mix of elegance, comfort and Italian style.

She will cruise weekly from Genoa, Naples and Palermo for Tunis, Palma de Majorca, Barcelona and Marseille until 26 October 2008.

Departures from Genoa are every Sunday. Guests can visit the famous aquarium or travel by coach to Portofino, the splendid Ligurian town recognised as the preferred rendezvous of the international jet set; or they can simply stroll through the alleys of Genoa's old city centre to discover the flavours and colours of a bygone era.

The next port of call is Naples (passengers can board here every Monday), a world-renowned city known for its busy old centre, historic buildings and its famous pizza. Among the excursions is a visit to the Island of Capri. This is followed by calling into Palermo, where passengers can embark every Tuesday. This Sicilian city is populated by marvellous mansions, ancient churches and typically narrow streets winding through the old quarter.

Then comes Tunis with its shops full of distinct souvenirs as well as the fascinating market of Medina, plus the famous brick vaults. Excursions include the archaeological site of Carthage and its museum.

The Balearic Islands are not left out, with a full day and night stopover at Palma de Majorca. This is the biggest and most famous, not only for its production of pearls but also for its beaches and crystal-clear sea.

From here the cruise will call into Barcelona, the cosmopolitan Spanish city. A must-visit is Las Ramblas district with its long avenues running all the way down to the harbour and lined on either side by a myriad of little shops where the street artists entertain pedestrians day and night. Not to be missed is the visit to the old centre of Barcelona with its Gothic cathedral and the majestic Sagrada Familia designed by the great Catalan architect, Gaudì.

The last port of call before returning to Italy is Marseille, a French city with a plethora of restaurants in the old port area. Literature lovers should also visit the island of the Château d'If with its ancient fortress where the Count of Monte Cristo was imprisoned.
