It's show time! Sit back and laugh, enjoy exciting theatre, comedy and musicals on board the latest addition to the MSC Cruises fleet - MSC Orchestra, to be christened 14 May in Civitavecchia by Sophia Loren. Extraordinary facilities await your visit, from the pool deck to the Covent Garden Theatre, the lavish lounges, the tennis courts, the gym, the mini-golf and other activities and original scores to ensure an unforgettable cruise from start to finish. All this and more is co-ordinated by the Cruise Director and his team of 82 entertainment professionals.
There are activity coordinators for the Mini-Club (children aged 3 to 7), the Junior Club (ages 8 to 12) and the Teenager Club (from 12 to 16) and activity leaders for adults. Every day they organise plenty of exciting activities and, in the evenings, the troupe of 11 dancers and 14 artists of international fame are all on hand to bring you a magical world of shows and surprising performances.
Watch in fascination as a magician transforms the smallest objects into gigantic ones and then back again. Admire the agility of the Zimbabwean boys - acrobats with perfect balance - and Jean Marc, an outstanding juggler who boasts amazing hand speed, or laugh with Stan George, the well-known Vaudeville comedian.
On top of all this there will be 21 professional musicians forming the perfect orchestral backdrop for your cruise, playing together on the pool deck or at the pianos in the bars and the various lounge areas. Tenor Enrico Scotto will enchant during your voyage while the dancing rhythms of Los Paraguayos will keep your toes tapping. Or you might prefer to enjoy the dulcet tones of the Classic Quartet or guitarist Paco Garcia.
Are you an early riser? If so from 8 am to 1 pm make the most of your morning with exercise, stretching those muscles and breathing the fresh sea air. Enjoy an energizing breakfast and then head for the pool deck to participate in the games with the activities team. The fun starts at 9:30 am and doesn't stop. Later, participate in themed events such as Arts and Crafts or your choice of sports. Or get ready for a dance evening learning the most fashionable dances accompanied by the onboard orchestra. Alternatively, you might just prefer to find a quiet corner to relax and unwind.
From 1 pm to 7 pm - throughout the afternoon and early evening the entertainment is guaranteed with ping pong and tennis tournaments, a quiz, water games and thighs/abs/glutes sessions - ideal to keep in shape. You might just surf the intranet at the Internet Point, dream of Brazil while learning Brazilian dancing, or capoeira. You might score a hole in one at the mini-golf, or simply head off to the library to find a good read. Naturally the pool deck party is a must-do, with group dancing, bingo and pre-dinner aperitifs. If you are travelling solo, join the singles meet and greet to mingle with other single travellers and find some common interests.
From 7 pm to midnight - Music or Blackjack? Why not both? On board MSC Orchestra the choices are nearly endless. You can also relax in one of the lounges to enjoy the music and a good coffee or hedge your bets in the Palm Beach Casino before indulging in a spot of wine tasting in the La Catinella Wine Bar. Then, more games on deck such as ‘ideal couples', or a salsa lesson, or getting elected as Miss or Mr Orchestra. Show off your karaoke skills, take part in the masked ball, or watch the cabaret and then participate in the ‘Guests Show'. Don't forget that every evening in the Covent Garden Theatre there is a different show, starting with the ‘Invitation to the Opera' - an anthology of Neapolitan songs recited by tenor Enrico Scotto. This is followed by the elegant shows ‘Smile' and ‘Midnight in Paris' for atouch of French culture. There is the magic show called ‘Jorgos Magic' and an enjoyable Irish evening called ‘Celtic Spirit' as well as ‘Circus Land' - an acrobatic show with circus acts. ‘Fantasia', a modern show that brings together in a grand finale all of the onboard acts, rounds out the evening's entertainment.
From midnight to 8 am - For the nocturnal guests the entertainment begins with the midnight buffet plus a new addition on MSC Orchestra the ‘Late Night Show', an elegant yet cheeky 15-20 minute show that finishes at 1 pm. Then there is the R32 for a themed 70's and 80's evening.
Alternatively try Latino dancing or enter the dance competition, unless you prefer a terrifying horror show. Catch a film anytime: they run 24 hours per day. Don't fret when you notice that it is already morning...the fun is just about to start all over again, as it does every day on board MSC Orchestra.
KIDS, WHAT A SHIP! JUST SAY DOREMI
On board MSC Orchestra there is Doremi, the MSC Cruises mascot, as well as the entertainment team for our youngest guests. What fun children of all ages can have! The youngest can participate in Angels versus Devils or Pirates versus Seamen and can test their knowledge with a Disney Quiz, participate in the ‘Hot Dog Party' and ‘Birthday Party'. They can even put together their own children's show. Teenagers can sing their hearts out with karaoke, participate in dancing lessons and in the evenings enjoy their own disco events.
