The Bora Bora buffet extends the spectrum with its own special pizzeria for an exquisitely tasty but light alternative, while La Reggia serves sumptuously varied Italian dining on two floors. In fact guests can choose from a total of 14 menus every day, enjoying an astonishing variety, with the highly-trained chefs on MSC Splendida offering a combined repertoire of an incredible 2,000 different recipes - and that's just during a 7 day cruise! And of course food is available on board 24 hours per day.
That would have been more than enough for most, but not MSC Cruises, which has created something truly special for MSC Splendida, a completely new concept in cuisine that takes you on a gastronomic tour of the Mediterranean every time you dine. This tastefully sumptuous restaurant is called L'Olivo, in homage to the olive tree which has contributed so much to the rich and diverse cultures nurtured by this legendary sea, considered by so many to be the very centre of the earth itself.
L'Olivo brings you the living essence of these cultures, their aromas, history, sensibilities and of course tastes, from the sea shore to the mountains and deserts. You can savour a single culture throughout each succulent meal or, for example, venture to relish your appetiser in Egypt, your main course in Croatia and your dessert in France, completing a tour of the Mediterranean all in one night!
Ensconced in its elegant and comfortable ambience, admiring superb views, you'll never tire of exploring the cuisine of this incredible cradle of civilisations. Indeed, L'Olivo offers select delicacies from a full 14 different Mediterranean countries: Algeria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Libya, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey.
What's more, this is the authentic cuisine of these countries and is prepared to the highest standards using only the finest ingredients from their traditional areas of production. MSC Cruises not only insists on certified-origin speciality foods and wines, but likewise maintains tight control regarding the origin of all its ingredients and how they are cultivated, reared and slaughtered - for every cut of meat, every vegetable and every one of the 31 varieties of fish and seafood served. You'll not only be able to taste the difference but feel it too!
