Are the drills always held on the same deck? I am sailing on the Celebration on Saturday and have a cabin on the Main deck. What deck do they hold the drill on? Anyone in the know??

Thanks

it varies from ship to ship.......but it won't be the Main Deck......that deck is all cabins......

On Carnival it's usually the deck with the lifeboats on it, or the deck directly below the lifeboats, so in the case of the Celebration it would be one of the higher up decks since the lifeboats are oddly enough at the top of the ship.

does Carnival also have it marked on the back of the cabin door? is the muster drill a long drawn out thing? i've heard you have to wear the life vest and it will get very hot.

Hello Dawson,

All 15 ships that we've been on have had the muster station location, and instuctions posted either on the back of the cabin door or on the wall right next to it.

The longest muster I've ever experienced was about 40 minutes the shortest about 10 to 15 minutes. Somehow it always feels longer. Take your camera and snap a few of those embarrassing photos of each other.

Yes you have to wear the life jacket. Should you ever really need the thing, you will be very glad that you know how to put it on.

Hot ? Sometimes. It is the Caribbean after all.

EVERY ship on the waters will have the muster station on the cabin door.
I suggest you wait in your cabin until you hear the whistle. So what if you have to go down a few flights of stairs. Lots of people will be waiting at the muster station waiting for the drill- those are the people the drill lasts the longest for.
after you hear the whistle-- head to the muster station- you will be directed from the halls-- there will only be one way for you to go-- on carnival you will be wearing your jacket. by the time you get to your muster drill--its almost over. Listen to the directions. think how rude people are around you making wise cracks etc instead of listening to what the people are telling you.
Its over--- ALL those people now try to cram into the first elevator that comes along.. wait a few minutes. it clears quickly.
you can take off your jacket-- just watch that the belt doesnt trail behind you.

All good advice.

If you are traveling with older folks, young children or poeple who just don't do stairs well you should get to your muster deck before the lifts are closed.

Thank you all. Your advice is very much appreciated and extremely useful. I can't tell you how grateful I am for getting all this info prior to our cruise. It helps to make things a little calmer. Thanks again.

I would just like to add that the muster drill can be very short if everyone onboard cooperates. On one of our cruises it lasted over an hour because there was a large group who wasn't cooperating. They were there to party and didn't think they had participate in the muster drill. It held up everyone on the ship. So once the muster drill is announced, quickly proceed to your muster station.

another note-- the bars, buffet and everything else will close during muster drill.
If you have a drink you will be asked to get rid of it.
No eating or drinking is allowed.

If people are not cooperating--its up to the muster drill staff to keep it running smooth. The person in charge--should have taken charge.
