Good afternoon Cruise Addicts,

My name is Pete and I'm currently embedded with the 82 ABN Division in East Baghdad, Iraq for my 3rd year. I've been granted to go on vacation and celebrate my 2nd anniversary with my girlfriend. I will be flying home from Baghdad, Iraq to my house in Florida and drive down to Miami to meet the boarding time. I'm very excited. This will be the first cruise ever in both of our lives. I was recommend by a friend of mind, John Shallo the owner of www.cruise-addicts.com to use Carnival Cruise as my first experience on a cruise. He recommend the Triumph trip based on ship reviews, the dates I'm limited to travel, pricing, and the ports of call. Again, I'm very excited and looking forward to my first cruise as my vacation and place to celebrate my 2nd anniversary. If you will be sailing on the Triumph during the same time, please let me know. Since this is my first cruise, does anybody have any recommendations? Any recommendations on excursions? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I'm trying to limit my first time cruising mistakes by listening to anyone for advice. I think I already avoided one by upgrading from an interior room to a balcony room. What is the dance clubs, bars, and lounges like? Reason I ask because we are both in our late twenties and enjoy dancing to top 40 music.

Below is our itinerary:

Sunday, Apr 12 Miami, FL 4:00pm
Monday, Apr 13 Fun Day At Sea
Tuesday, Apr 14 San Juan, Puerto Rico 5:00pm 12:00am
Wednesday, Apr 15 St. Thomas, USVI 7:00am 6:00pm
Thursday, Apr 16 St. Maarten, NA 7:00am 5:00pm
Friday, Apr 17 Fun Day At Sea
Saturday, Apr 18 Fun Day At Sea
Sunday, Apr 19 Miami, FL 8:00am

I look forward to hearing from you.

Happy Sailing,

Pete

Hello Pete and =welcome aboard Cruise @ddicts.

First of all please allow me to thank you for your service to our Country :pride

I am sure many people will have lots of good suggestions for you. It happens that one of my favorite shore excursions is in St Maarten. The Lord Sheffield is a Brigentine Schooner that takes you sailing down the leeward side of the island for a really great afternoon. Here is a link to their web site. The description that they give is very accurate. It's like spending the afternoon in a Jummy Buffett song, If you do decide to do this make sure you book it in advance because it usually sells out.

=funsign on your first cruise.

Like Mbandy, thank you for your service. I hope you got the Carnival military discount. Saved us between 400 and 500 dollars on our first 3 cruises. We take our fourth on the 19th of April. Our first was on the Victory and it was the same trip. If you want a relaxing, romantic time I'd say take the horseback ride along the border of the rain forest. You stop halfway for a fireside break. It will take most of your time in San Juan. It is still one of my best memories. Holding my wife's hand, on horseback, at night, by a rain forest. Wow. In St Thomas, we did the Skyride tram. It takes you up the hillside and you end up with a fantastic view and great photo op. We love it. Check out all the offers on the excursion page and go with what interests you. Have a great time!
