My name is Alan, I'm 40 and single from Pittsburgh, Pa. I'm planning my first cruise in December around the 8th or 13th or so, I think a 5 day cruise would be best and I'm trying to decide what line and ship to go on. I am leaving from Florida. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Alan, I am not certain there are many 5 dayers out there anymore. There are a few 4 dayers. We did RCL from Miami a few years ago. Monday to Friday, hit the private island, Nassau and Key West. Our biggest problem was lousy weather, but that can happen no matter. I do, sometimes wonder why people choose a 4 day cruise when you will still be off work for a week as they nearly always leave on Mondays. I think Carnival leaves on Sundays out of Port Canaveral. If you do like the party scene you may be happy with Carnival though the shorter the cruise the more you will get a wild bunch. Just one more thing, you might enjoy yourself a bit more if you can find a friend to cruise with, know you will save bucks. Hope this helps a bit. All the short cruises will either venture into Mexico from Miami or do the Nassau thing.

I would start with Carnival or Royal Caribbean. HAL and Celebrity don't have any that short. They are probably better choices to meet other singles as well. You will have a great time.

It's hardly worth packing and traveling to/from port for anything less than 7 days.

I would try booking the Enchantment of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean ship. She sails on 5 night cruises on December 8 and also on December 13 (2 different itineraries).
You will enjoy the ship

We're taking a 4-night cruise on Brilliance of the Seas in December. However, I have to take issue with Sue... we really need just a short cruise to tide us over until Panama Canal in April on Infinity, and 4 nights works find for us
