We have a Family Ocean View w/Veranda on the Celebrity Infinity for June 9, 2005. I am so excited I can't not think about it.

Questions questions questions...

1. Is there a "time" and "place" for the Northern Lights?
2. What is the weather like in June up there?
3. Has anyone been on the Infinity in a Family Ocean View?
4. Is the very back end of the ship (aft?) going to be a bumpier ride?

Wheee...I'm going to Alaska! By the time my trip comes, you all will be so tired of my questions... LOL!

1. Is there a "time" and "place" for the Northern Lights? One thing you must understand even in June the sun will be up a long time in Alaska so the chance to see the Northern lights will not be good. Anything is possible but this is one thing you should not count on because it will be extremely unlikely.

2. What is the weather like in June up there? June still is considered one of the dryer months for cruising Alaska, however you will be going to some rain forest areas so rain is likely. The temps will more than likely be in the high 60's to mid 70's most the time and you can figure 5 to 10 degrees cooler near the glaciers. The weather can still change quickly so dressing in layers is still a very wise idea.

Sorry I can't help with your other questions. I've never been on the Infinity and I have never had a cabin in the stern of the ship.

Enjoy Alaska it is my favorite place to cruise.

We just got back from Alaska and we saw the Northern Lights, they were awesome. I am told early spring and early autumn are the best times to catch Northern Lights at least that is what Captain Larry told us, He saw them Monday August 30th and told us to watch for them the 31st and we saw them. He said to watch about 12:30am in morning.r

Hey Glo...

I was on Infinity to Alaska last August. It was a fantastic ship and some of the best service I have had. We loved to hang out at the Oceanview Bar at the back of deck 10 so being at the rear is a good thing. Not much difference in the motion from front to back IMHO. There's also a place called Notes where you can listen to music CD's or just chill in the 2 story atrium. A great place to get away for a little peace and quiet. You'll LOVE Infinity. Glad you finally got it booked.

Happy Cruising,

Michael

The Northern Lights are strongest during the spring and fall equinox....mid to late September for the fall. The sunlight late at night is awesome! In early June, I took pictures on deck at 10:15 pm that look like really late afternoon to very early evening. Sunrise came very early....around 4 something. Alaska was absolutely beautiful! Enjoy
