My poor baby is 14 years old. I started noticing she was having a hard eating dry food. So all we had in the house in the way of soft food for her was a can of Tuna. She loved that. :lol Well today we'll go buy some canned food for her.

Our poor babies. Mieke is a Blue Point Himilayan. She produced some very cute kittens in her past. Her husband Arie died in 2000, he was 10yrs old and a Seal Point Himilayan.

You might want to have the vet look at her teeth. Sometimes, it is a dental problem. Just a suggestion....

I sure hope she gets better real soon :)

It is so sad to see our furbabies getting older. We have them for such a short time. I was thinking of Maxie and Scooter as young cats, but Maxie is about 7 now, and Scoots 6, which means I should start feeding senior food. Scares me!

you already have two suggestions I was going to give. Try wetting the food with warm water and just let it sit a bit to soften. And a dental exam could help with the vet. ONly thing is to do a cleaning they have to sedate and they dont like to sedate for older animals, unless very necessary. (usually a cleaning is added to another procedure already needed) But give them a call anyway. Hugs to kitty...:kitten

I once had a 20 year (yes, 20 year) old rabbit named Nugget. You can guess why the name...Anyway, when he turned 10, we had to soften his food for him. We would mix his food nuggets with warm water. Also, we would feed him soft food like yogurts, etc. He actually got so old that he didn't have any teeth. We also often times fed him liquid, vitamin-fortified food through a dropper. Other than not having any teeth, Nugget was the same old bunny we loved.

Yeah, it's sad when I think of how short life is for our furbabies. The vet has a longevity chart for dogs and cats in the waiting room. One of the key factors for expanding a pet's life is to give that baby lots of attention and love. From all of the pet stories that I've read on this forum, I think that all the Cruise Addict fur and feather babies will live long, long lives.

OMGosh, that is a long life for a rabbit. I looked at Mieke's teeth and it looks like she has lost some. I feel just awful not noticing before hand. Mieke is the Matriarch (sp?) of the group. The other furbabies seem to know this and show respect. :lol
