we are visiting Nassau, Bahamas; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; while on the Mariner this is our first time on any of these ports and keen to stroll around so can we walk to the main shopping areas or do we require a taxi. or are we missing something that we should do (we are not beach lovers) any help appreciated thank you

It's best to take a cab to Front St. in St. Maarten for shopping. In St. Thomas a cab is also needed to get downtown but Havensight Mall is right at the pier. It has lots of shops including many jewelry stores. In April we'll be doing a tour with Godfrey in St. Thomas. He'll pick us up and take us downtown for a couple hours of shopping, next is a two hour tour of the island and then to a beach of our choice. Magen's Bay is beautiful so I would advise even non - beach people to go to see it. That's what we'll do and then have him take us back to the ship. In Nassau you can walk to the straw market and the shops easily. I would recommend taking a cab to Paradise Island to see Atlantis. It's a must see at least once in my book. I think the cab fare is like $ 5.00 a person each way. There is also a water taxi to Paradise Island but I think that takes way longer than a cab.

just got back yesterday from all on the jewel of the seas.
took private cab tour on st maarten and nassau.
both tours were great 2-1/2hrs both 20.00/each on 5 people in minivans
in st thomas we used godfrey but he had a death in his family and timmy picked us up and took us.
timmy had our emails to godfrey. timmy's tour was great. we saw many great spots in st thomas. after 2 hrs roaming shops more window shopping for us. timmy charged us 20.00 as godfrey would.
as they say "no problem mon"
