Lisa -I can understand your frustration at not being about to go to a port you wanted to go to because of mechanical problems. However, once a mechanical problem developes, what is the cruise line to do? The cruise ticket / contract makes it clear that the cruise line can change its itinerary. At least the cruise line offered you something. This is better then what happens to an airplane when it has mechanical problems. Then you get burial expenses. Which would you rather have?If the ship had gone to the Bahamas and was not able to return on time, that would have been a bigger problem for everyone who did not drive to the port (in other words, had a plane to catch). Most people buy the cheapest ticket they can (read non-refundable). The airline will not care why the person missed the plane. The person did and that person is SOL. On top of this, there are another 2000 people at the dock expecting the ship to be on time. Given this, missing a port is better than arriving late. However, you are entitled to a refund of your port fees / taxes. Contact NCL and request a refund of the port fees / taxes.
