Hi, we're first time cruisers and sailing on the SOS in January. We're a family with two 17year old girls. We really need help with any suggestions of excursions in Nassau. We love to snorkel and will be spending the entire day before at Cococay. We're looking at :

-Robinson Crusoe (not booked through RC) - $45
-Atlantis Tour - $68 (does not include slides or pools)
We'd like to see Atlantis but heard there are guards there during the day, thought perhaps this would be the easiest way to see Atlantis, although quite pricey

-Cable Beach - (would that be a letdown after Cococay?)
-Rainbow Reef snorkeling - $34
-Sailing & Snorkeling - $41

Please help us, I want to book the excursions before we leave. We are sooooo undecided.

Thanks!

Laurie

Just wanted to let you know.....we just came back from Nassau/CocoCay and the SOS. We did not take an excursion in Nassau but we have been told that you can see their aquariums at night for free so you may want to check that out instead. Pool/beach/slide is for hotel guests only. We hear the Paradise Island tour is good and also Cable Beach (take your own taxi). If you don't want to be "attacked" by hagglers, don't go to the famous straw market. Big mistake for us, we actually found better prices on some things in the stores. We also learned a lesson......if you see something you like.......buy it then. We made the mistake of trying to go around and find better deals on certain items, and usually we did not see the item again. At CocoCay be sure and swim out to the shipwreck and the planewreck for snorkeling. We saw 2 octopus and a HUGE spotted stingray. CocoCay is wonderful! Hope this info helps, if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

We did the sail & snorkel in Nassau in August. It was nice but I would have enjoyed spending more time snorkeling. We are going back next month and we are going to try to book with Barefoot Sailing Cruises. From what I have read on these boards they take much smaller groups out and you get to spend more time in the water. They do only take payment in cash or travelers checks though. Their website is www.theBahamian.com/bsc. Their email address is Barefoot@coralwave.com. If you want to tour Atlantis you can go there in a taxi and pay $25 when you get there for the tour of the areas that are not open to the public. Sounds a lot cheaper then booking through the ship. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions!
