I know Nassau is not everones favorite port, but I thought with all this cruise experience on this board, there must be someone who found something fun to do. we would like some flexibility,so we do not want to take a ship sponsered tour.We also have a six year old.I have read the port of call info on this board and others.I would really like some personal experiences to draw from. Thanks for the help. From my Galaxy review from our visit the last week of June:

Taxi to Paradise Island public beach access for $4 pp and $1 toll. Sandy beach, crystal clear water, few fish. Vendors provide jet skis, parasail, beverages and chairs. After 90 minutes in the hottest sun of the week, we walked to the Atlantis resort for a self-tour. We used the restrooms, viewed the shops, casino, and public areas including the aquarium where we saw sharks, stingrays, and lot of fish, all for free. Worth the trip. Taxi back to Strawmarket, which is still in temporary tent location, then walked back to ship.

We went in April and did the tour to Blue Lagoon Island, although it was ship sponsored i still enjoyed it. It wasn't too overly priced if you didn't pay for the dolphin adventure. You can still watch the dolphins without getting up close and personal with them. I really enjoyed just relaxing on the island and taking in the tropical atmosphere. Its a neat liitle place and there were lots of children on this tour.

JohnG,
You were able to go to the Atlantis and see some of the sites for free. I called and they want $25.00 per adult and $19.00 per child to see the dis and the fish! Any sugg. as to how to see for free?

Laurie, We left the Explorer early probably a little after 8. We were able to get into the digs and out around the pools before they started charging. Once we went back inside though we couldn't go back out, they check for room keys etc. We grabbed a cab at the dock and he told us just to go straight to the digs and walk in, there was no one checking that early. He even came back for us when we had arranged. Much easier than the excursion we took the year before and definitely much cheaper. Have fun! Deb
