For shopping, the straw market is just down the street from the cruise pier, just a short walk.

If you want to beach it, Cable Beach is nice. Less than $10 each way in a taxi. They have lots of water sports there. Snorkel gear, banana boats, wave runners, parasailing etc.

=funsign on your cruise =sailor

Went to Nassau several years ago; the ship (RCCL) line offered a Pirates and Dungeons excursion....DON'T DO IT! Total waste of time and money (from my perspective). They took you to a fort, which was not included in the price of the excursion. The last stop was the Pirates of Nassau Museum which was a little cheesy in my opinion. Also, beware of vendors; you go to pay for something, and you hand them, say a $20. They will ask if you have anything smaller. They anticipate that you will, so they make change for your $10. But watch your $20 closely. On two occasions, the vendor palmed my $20 and "forgot" to give it back to me. They got a little pissy as well, when I asked for it back.
