Has anyone done the Nassau Stingray excursion? We did the one in Grand Caymen last year..Is the one in Nassau the same, better, worse????

Any other ideas for Nassau or St. Thomas??

Thanks

Our table mates did this tour in December. They were terribly disappointed. It was in an enclosed area. Nothing like Grand Caymen.

My husband and I did this on our very first cruise (RCCL Sovereign of the Seas). We loved it. HOWEVER, after our 2nd Cruise (Celebrity Century) to Grand Caymen we realized that it Grand Caymen's Stingray tour was way better. I think you will be disappointed with Nassau's Stingray City if you did it in G.C. It is an enclosed area and nowhere near as many Stingray's as G.C. had. It's a relaxing day, but I think it would be a disappointment to you.

I just returned from a cruise 4 days ago. We stopped in Nassau and we talked to 3 different couples that did the Stringray City excursion. All were very disappointed and would not have done it again. It is an enclosed area and from the sound of things, very overbooked. It was crowded and people complained of getting kicked by other swimmers due to the close quarters.

We went to Atlantis. It was nice to see once. If you've seen pictures and aren't really interested in seeing it, don't. I really enjoyed looking at how it was decorated and the (free) aquarium. Many people aren't into that... I believe it was $25 for access to the rest of the resort. I'm not sure if that included the beach or not.

If you like spending a day at the beach, I would reccomend Saphire Beach in St Thomas. We got there around 10AM and it wasn't crowded at all. It has gorgeous torquise water and white sand. It was clean and there was a little place to get something to eat. Lounge chairs, snorkle gear, etc can all be rented at reasonable prices. It was about 20-30 minutes from the dock and cost $8 a person for a taxi. Some people we talked with went over to Meagan's Bay while we were there. They were very disappointed. It was overcrowded and dirty. It rained most of the time they were there, while we actually never had a drop on our side of the island.

Hope that helped! Enjoy your cruise:)

We went to a beach on Paradise Island near the Atlantis, it was about 4 yrs ago though, and I don't remember paying for access, but I could be wrong.

Our family -- H, W, 19 yo son, 9 yo daughter -- did this tour in June, 2000. We thought it was wonderful. DH and son are great swimmers and took to the water right away. I and daughter are fearful swimmers. So, once everyone else was in, one of the excursion employees asked why we weren't in. I said we didn't understand how to snorkle. Employee said, but do you really want to do it, because if you do, I'll help you. We both said yes. He put on a wet suit, told daughter to stand way back, took me in, had me snorkeling confidently in less than five minutes. Ten minutes later, my daughter was snorkeling confidently as well. Thanks to this wonderful person we all had a great time that day, and we have all snorkeled ever since!
