Thinking of booking ship to Bermuda from Boston.. Normally we book a balcony, does it seem to matter on this ship (the balconies for the date I'm interested are sold out). Anything I should know about this ship...two years ago sailed on the NCL Gem..

The Dawn is very much like the Gem. There are some minor differences.

That probably means I better be prepared to pay $$$ for specialty restaurants. We loved Cagneys and Le Bistro on the Gem. Except for those restaurant on the Gem service was non-existent darn it... Then again... in Bermuda our favorite place to eat is the Swizzle Inn and listen to the Bermuda Symphony (ambulances going by)

I've found that all balcony rooms seem to be booked if you have a certain # of people. I have a friend who is a travel agent that told me that for 4 people you either need to book an ocean view or a mini suite.

Well, several months ago I talked to my t/a and NCL directly and the price for a SEVEN day cruise was/is so outrageous I hung up on them..lol. It would be almost $4,000.00 for the two of us.. THAT IS INSANE.. We could fly to Florida, stay at a hotel and then pick up a seven day or longer cruise on a more upscale line. BTW on another board a t/a who does cruise on NCL has confirmed I was absolutely right. Prices on this line are going out of sight. I do not want an inside cabin or cabin with a "view"..at my age and our years of cruising I want what I want and only the fact that we want to go to Bermuda once again was the only reason we considered it.

What kind of cabin are you looking at? We have a cat BC balcony for our Bermuda cruise in Sept, for 2 for 1965.00.

That sounds like a great price.. for other reasons (sickness) we wanted this week and it wasn't that close.. I wanted a cabin mid ship with a balcony, but in the end... we could not book one because of a serious illness for September.

Joel, I spoke directly to NCL and another t/a I've met on another board checked it out too...We were talking about almost $4,000.00 for the both of us.. October is too iffy to go to Bermuda from Boston as is the end of September..

We booked first week of September for 1/2 that back in November, but tried booking less than 3 months out last summer and the prices were crazy (not quite as bad as you are seeing this year... I think it was going to be just over $3200 for two of us). We ended up flying from Boston to Seattle and cruising to Alaska for less than Boston-Bermuda... and we live in metro Boston! I guess this is just a popular time and destination and requires pre-booking far in advance.

I booked Bermuda cruise with NCL out of Boston in March with balcony room for me and my husband for only 2000 for the end of September. Very happy with the price and like the time of year because there is less kids on board and it's absolutely beautiful in Bermuda. Sure it's the end of hurricane season, but you never know.
