NCL - Dress over the Holidays

We are cruising for the first time on NCL and its Freestyle. We are on the Sea on 12/23 - over Christmas. Is the dress more formal than the brochure becase of heh holidays? We have traveled RCCL over christmas and were happy to see the dress a bit more dressy than usual.
