NCL food vs Princess

that is a matter of opinion. I doubt you will find much difference. Most lines, the food is similar. The advantage NCL has is dining choices even though most of the ships have a sur charge for 3 or 4 of their restaurants, there are more choices without paying extra.

I would say that NCL's Le Bistro beats anything I've ever experienced on the high seas.

We did ANYTIME Dining on the Golden Princess and the food in the main dining room was VERY good...the steakhouse( added charge) was terrific and the Mexican rest. was good.
The only one that was a royal rifoff was the Fancy Italian..not enuf waitstaff-food cold, totally NOT impressed- we ended up not paying for the dinner since it was that bad...as we exited the restaurant, we ran into 2 other couples who had the exact same dining scenerio..so we were not as crazy as we thought.

I happen to LOVE Princess and u never had problems making a dinner reservation for dining..however, the dining rooms themselves would have crowds outside waiting for the doors to open. Management tried to shift you to an early seating or a late seating, so it almost felt like "normal cruising" in the larger of the 2 main dining rooms.
We ended up at the smaller normal dining room and felt it was more intimate ( ie . no high ceilings- it felt like fine dining) even tho it did not cost extra.

We will definitely go on another Princess cruise but we are trying NCL PEARL in Jan. to see if they live up to their freestyle cruising.
I have friends who have done the Dream and they are picky people and they loved it....

Hope this helps some.

VERY subjective topic as it depends on the food connoisseur. Personally the food was decent with both NCL and Princess on the cruises we have been on with both lines. The difference we found was that we tended to get a bit more attention and catering to with Princess. There also tended to be MORE choices in the actual dining-rooms and special requests seemed to be accepted better on Princess. Just my =twocents on the topic.

I think NCL and princess have the best food of all the lines. Just what i think. I will see if this is still true in jan. when i go on the Sun.

We quit booking ncl when they changed their attitude and went to "all healthy" menus. If we wanted p.c. Type food we would stay home! Our last cruise with them, the food was not good!!!!

On a cruise, except for those who have special diet requirements, you expect food that taste great... Regardless of 'calories & carbs' etc.

Have they gone back to a better menu?

I don't know when you cruised NCL but I have been cruising with them yearly for about 10 years and never have they offered a strictly healthy menu.

Now, not that it really makes much difference since this thread is almost 4 years old, but as much as we love NCL I do think the food in the MDRs on Princess is better. The specialty restaurants and buffets on NCL are better.
