NCL Jewell Cabin Decision (or any Jewell Class Ship)

I am about to book a cruise on NCL Jewel. I am looking at balcony, deck 10, but in the forward section. The ship is large, so will the movement be much of a difference than if I was midship? I imagine the caribbean would have to be rough to really feel it anyway, and at that point I doubt it would matter where you are! Also, are the adjoining cabins annoying if you don't know your neighbor? Any opinions? Thanks a lot.

Don't worry about adjoining cabins, we have sailed with balconies many times and never been really bothered by our neighbors. The deviders are pretty sound proof and from top to bottom. As for forward, well it depends on how forward and the ships movement. We were on the jewel crossing the north Atlantic a couple of years ago, very rough seas part of the way and still no problems. You couldn't have been more forward than we were. Because we had a cabin on deck 4 the engine and anchor noise did drive us a little nuts. On deck 10 this shouldn't be a problem.

We were on deck 10 on the Jewel last fall. I never heard the neighbors once, but I ran into another problem: our cabin creaked a lot! It sounded like the ship was going to split in two starting with my cabin! We were midship, with balcony, similar to what you're talking about. I will give them credit though. The ship was full so they said they couldn't move us, but I called to complain and several times during the cruise they worked on it, little by little. I never saw them in our room, but they did the work, called me every day to see how it was, and by the end of the cruise, the sound was gone! As far as movement, we never feel a thing.

My last cruise was a balcony cabin on the Jewel, forward, on deck 9, It was to the Caribbean and I didn't notice much movement. Because we were on the starboard it was a little windy but it was only an issue if the balcony door was cracked open a tiny bit. If the door was opened completely it wasn't that noticable. I still stayed out there whenever I could.

I have a penthouse suite coming up on the Jewel. It's a forward one so I'll let you know if I hear noise or what the balcony is like when we're moving.
I'm from northern Michigan so I doubt a little warm wind is going to keep me off the balcony!
