My husband and I have vacationed in Charleston a number of times and I can recommend the Embassy Suites and the Hampton Inn on Meeting St. (next to each other actually). It's about a 15 minute walk down to the historic market area from those hotels. Lots of great shops and restaurants. However, before our Majesty cruise last year, we decided to stay in N. Charleston at a La Quinta Inn which was inexpensive since we were just going to be there one night and Charleston was not our destination. So, it depends upon the type of accommodations you want and the location you need. From La Quinta, it was about a 15-minute drive to the port and it would be much closer from the Meeting St. hotels. We had a wonderful time on the Majesty and friends just sailed on it before the holidays and they also had a great time. Enjoy your cruise!
