I'm booked on the Boston to Bermuda cruise going out on Oct. 24th. Anyone else going? Anyone take this cruise this season? I've never taken a NCL cruise, only Carnival and Royal Carr. Would love to hear from others.

Thanks,

HAVE taken this cruise from Boston to Bermuda ten times, personally I think it's too late and too cool in the season...It must be the last cruise from Boston...

Hello,

We were beginning to think we had the ship to ourselves. We're also booked on that sailing and can't wait; dieting myself down to a bone so I can enjoy all the food. We've cruised four times on NCL and love the freestyle cruise concept. Have also sailed Carnival (too crowded and noisy) but not yet RCCL.

I hope it's not as cold as Parrot Mom has experienced...I always bring sweaters, etc for on deck, but looking forward to getting away no matter what.

Oh, I thought we were going to be on this cruise by ourselves too! It's nice to get a response from someone.
I hope all these hurricanes are gone by Oct 24th! I have the Bermuda Weather page bookmarked! I can't wait/. Have you been on THIS ship before? Do they have the free style dinner? How is the entertainment at night? Have you ever cruised this late in the season from Boston?

Thanks

Hi, there! No, we haven't been on this ship before but I know that all the NCL ships have the Freestyle dining going on. My husband and I really enjoyed not having to be at the same table, same time every night. It allowed us to be a lot more flexible with shore time, nap time, spa time, etc. Basically, you eat anytime between 5:30 and 10:30 PM, at the restaurant of your choosing. Very nice concept, more like a resort than a ship. On formal night, we go to an alternative restaurant if we're not dressing up.

I've never cruised out of Boston before. My sister-in-law lives there, so we'll drive up the day prior to sailing and stay the night with her. We HAVE sailed out of our home port, New York City, several times. It's great not to have to get on a plane.

Look forward to meeting everyone on board! I just bookmarked the weather page, too, so THANKS!

Cruising out of Boston is a dream..You drive up to the Black Falcon Pier..show the State Troopers your papers...drive ahead to the PLEASANT longshoremen who unload your car and if you have your car with you...drive across the road to the enclosed parking garage and walk back to the entrance. If your a Lattitudes Member you go in a special line...the problem is that it seems everybody is a Lattitude Member nowadays..lol. Cruising from Boston is so popular that Royal Caribbean has decided to join NCL..and they are bringing in TWO ships next year, but from another board I have heard the prices are ridiculously high. BTW please tell Leslie that Parrot Mom says hello..

Parrot Mom,

What's your favorite part of the NCL Majesty? Of the Boston to Bermuda itinerary? Any recommendations for what to do on the island? I'm so looking forward to this cruise. Thanks for all the great information.

My favorite part of the Majesty....the crew and the convenience of not have to get up early in the a.m. or the day before and fly to Florida... We like to compare it to driving to a nice hotel in Boston and waking up a day or so later in beautiful Bermuda and I love being docked in St. George and now with the high speed ferries you can get to the Dockyard in no time.. Hamilton is like downtown Boston...on one side are all the shops...the other side the cruise ships...We love wandering the cobblestoned streets in St. George. This year I was able to wander the streets most tourists don't see in St. George and found wonderful little scenes, homes and gardens. The people in Bermuda actually are friendly towards tourists and will go out of their way to help you, whether to recommend another shop or give directions. This year while wandering Hamilton spotted a lovely statue at the Arts Center near the re-located bus stop and a garden we had yet to discover in all our trips. Of course, now that we have discovered the Swizzle Inn (on the bus route) having lunch and a half of pitcher of Rum Swizzles or Dark and Stormies...and watching the people parade. What to do...on one trip we took a 5 hour tour of the island by bus...Gibbs Lighthouseand all the beaches, have taken a horse and buggy ride around Hamilton one evening.. and missed out again doing it in St. George this year. Just know.. that in a year or so.. quaint Bermuda will be inundanted with huge cruise ships...my beloved Majesty will be gone... Royal Caribbean is locating two ships in Boston and one will be heading towards Bermuda..Personally, I think it's a mistake but tourism is big business..In talking to the manager of a china shop he is upset that more hotels are not going to be built and more cruise ships. Cruise ship passengers do not buy his china and hotel people do. Due to the economy we noticed several of our favorite shops had merged and a few had closed in Hamlton. Have a wonderful time...enjoy

Hi,
I'm getting panicky, I have no idea what to pack for a late Oct. Cruise out of Boston! I'm so used to cruising out of Florida. Any suggestions on what to pack? I'm guessing that a lot of time is spent indoors while in the colder waters. Should I take a coat? or Jacket of somekind? I was thinking that sweaters & sweatshirts would be enought, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,
