Does anyone know if there will be a formal night on this short cruise? It is a 3 day out of Miami at the end of the month. I don't want to pack the dress if I don't need it!

I'm looking at a 4 day on the same ship for next year. I would like to know as well.
Butpast experience from being on NCL (about 5 1/2 years ago, it was optional on the short cruise we did. One night was the formal night, but you didn;t have to dress up. And the degrees of dress upwere varied. Some were extremely formal, some were nice dresses and guys in suits and ties, and some were sundresses or even capri's with the guys in khakis and no ties.

ALL of NCL's "formal" nights are optional. In my experience (I've been on two NCL cruises) less than half of the passengers will dress up. Though I am not a Freestyle fan, to me this is one of the advantages of Freestyle - not having to dress up.

There really is no Formal Night. During the day, anything goes. At night, just dont dress like a slob. Something you would wear to a nice, but not expensive dinner. also, Bring something "white"! They have a White Hot Night, where they want you to wear something white. Some people did, some didnt. No one said anything if you dont. I wore black that night, maybe im just a rebel ( or maybe they didnt tell me that they were going to have that night, and i really dont wear white).

Re: Boston to bermuda

Karen,

because you will be cruising a ship not designed for freestyle it will be a little different. You will still have the ability to eat when you want but won't have all the dining choices NCL is noted for. I have had clients cruised the Dream. It is a love/hate thing, you will either be thrilled and wish the ship would stay in the fleet or you will think it is not the best ship to cruise. One good thing, from what I have heard, the cabins are nice sized and the crew is friendly, but remember this will be the end of the days of the Dream, so who knows what the crew will be feeling. As long as you ae not expecting much, you may be really pleased.

Good luck and be sure to let us know how it turns out.

Nita

I've not yet been on an NCL cruise, so this is not from personal experience, but from what I've gathered from other descriptions, there is sometimes one night on board (probably on a sea day) where a "disco" event is set up. Folks are asked to wear white clothing, they put up "black lights" which will cause white clothing to "look funky and bright and colorful", and have a party. Nobody is REQUIRED to wear white, but if you do, it apparently is more fun to "flash around" with everyone than if you're wearing something that is not white. They'll have a band, disco music, probably drink specials, that sort of thing.
