Will board the Star next week for the mex riviera. A few questions for those in the know:

1) I hear the water is cold in the pools the first 2 days but is it cool and breezy on deck - will I need a sweatshirt (ACK!?!?!?)

2) Should I try to make all of my specialty restaurant reservations on the first night?

3) Anyone want to recommend shore excusions thru NCL that they thought were worthwhile? anyone been on the whale watching tours? we have generally gone off on our own when it comes to touring or snorkeling, fishing, etc. so if anyone has suggestions they'd be very much appreciated.

4) how is the internet cafe on the star - is the connection really slow. any Wi-Fi on board... in the cabins?

Appreciate comments
thanks!!!

We were on the Star in October and had a blast! The weather was cool the first and last day. We weren't in the pool either of those days so can't tell you how cold or warm it was. It was warm all the other days we were in it. The hot tubs were always warm! We didn't make our specialty restaurant reservations the first day and still got in later in the week. The only shore excursion we did through the ship was the Canopy Tour in Puerto Vallarta (what a blast!!) We hired Rosie in Acapulco and she did a wonderfull job of showing us the sites. We only had problems one night with slow internet in the cafe. Wi-Fi is available but can't say how well it was working. Have a GREAT cruise!!!

Cool weather and pool water temps can be expected the 1st 2 days until U get down near Mex. The internet was a bit slow as can be expected and expensive The Shore Trips Excursions link a tthe top of this forum will provide U with some Gr8 excursion opportunities. Enjoy. :thumb

We did a very similar itinerary on a different ship in February 2005. Our friends took a whale watching tour in Cabo San Lucas and loved it. After I saw their video, I wish we had done it, as well.

Yes, make your specialty restaurant reservations as soon as possible. You may even be able to see, in advance, the menus for the main dining rooms in case there are any meals you do not want to miss.
