Going to be going on the Sun Dec 21 from Miami. We will be staying the night in Miami after the cruise, any suggestions on areas or hotels to stay at?

I suppose we would like to stat in Miami. Is staying around the airport a good idea? I,m also concerned about our arrival, we get in to Miami at 6:30AM on Saturday morning, and i have no idea what we will do with our luggage because we are not renting a car for the day. If you have any advice, i would appreciate it!!!!

OMG... Ross, I am just checking back in here and didn't realize you had a follow up question.
Without a rental car, you will be pretty "stuck" by the airport, plus the surrounding area isn't too nice. I'd stay downtown. There is a Marriott right across from Bayside Marketplace that is convenient and also an Inter-Continental (probably pricier) and Best Western Marina Park is nearby. We once stayed at the downtown Holiday Inn and it was nice enough that we'd stay there again.
If you mean that you get into Miami at 6:30am following your cruise, your ship will probably take a while to dock and clear. Count on debarking by 9am. You could take a taxi to your hotel and ask them to hold your luggage until check-in time. They should have a secure room for that. Then you can go off and explore--I'd head for Miami Beach and have lunch there at one of the sidewalk cafes. You can go to Bayside for dinner--there are some terrific places there.

We will be cruising on the Norwegian Sun over Christmas as well. We are opting to stay in Miami the night before the cruise.
From all that we have been told, the place to stay in Miami is South Beach. Two hotels that have been recommended to us are Loews Miami Beach and Royal Palm Crowne Plaza. Both of these are located on Collins Ave. and are only a short walk away to Lincoln and Ocean Dr. We have been told that there are plently of hotels on Ocean Dr., but that it can be quite noisy at night.

We are stayimg the night after the cruise. We will be staying at the Hilton Airport. I decided on this hotel because our flight leaves early the next morning. We will probably rent a car and perhaps go to Key Largo. Is it worth the trip? Let me know!

We are also on the NCL Sun Xmas cruise and are staying at the Sheraton Bal Harbour the night afterwards. Does anyone know anything about this hotel. Is it near South Beach?
