I booked the cruise for July 28th. It is pretty expensive for a 4 day cruise if you go only 2 people ( about $150 per day) but because of their promotion kids go free I couldn't pass up the deal. It knocked down my cost to ( $82pp per day for 2adults 2 kids).

$150 a day is expensive?? 3 meals, all the other food you can consume in between, overnight stay on a ship is expensive?? I live in the middle of rural Georgia and a basic hotel room around here -- WITHOUT the food and scenery -- is nearly $100!

Don't expect the short cruises to be quite as nice as the 7 day or longer ones, though.

$150 is pretty expensive when you can find deals for $75-$100 a day on a cruise. I agree cruising in general is a good value for the price you pay for a hotel and meals but again, I have gone on 3 day cruises for $259 and 7 day cruises with Balcony for $699.

So, what are the fares today, for let's say late August?
3 days departing August 22, 2008
Inside $279, Oceanview $299, Balcony $349, Suite $989
4 days departing August 25, 2008
Inside $319, Oceanview $349, Balcony $539, Suite $1,139
3 days departing August 29, 2008
Inside $329, Oceanview $369, Balcony $419, Suite $1,369
4 days departing September 1, 2008
Inside $249, Oceanview $279, Balcony $439, Suite $1,039

To say there aren't any less than $100 per day cabins for the Sky, either 3 day or 4 day itineraries, is being slightly dishonest.

Are you suggesting I was being "slightly dishonest"?? I thought I was simply suggesting that cruising is a good deal..and $150 a day isn't unreasonable. Not a matter of honest/dishonest. Simply an observation.

I wasn't replying to your post, but to jcjr's post.

Whether $150 per person per day is expensive or not wasn't my point!
My point was, if you look at fares and are flexible when to take a cruise , you can find cheaper cruises.

I just pointed out a few, and I also pointed out that fares change from cruise to cruise.

Sorry for the late reply but those prices you posted Don are tyically the worst time to cruise in the carribean. The cruises that I stated were less than $100 a day were during Spring and early Summer. Those same cruises during late August and early September could of been had for under $70 a day. My point was that I booked the 7/28 cruise because the "children sailed free" made it economical. We are going with a group of 4 families. We could have gotten 3 more couples to go but there were better deals to be had for two people on other lines. Again, $150 pp per day for a non balcony is not a great deal.

jcjr, it may not be a great deal but when traveling in July or early August you will pay top $$. The only period that would be as higher or worse would be Christman week and Spring break. Late July is the last big vacation time before some schools start the fall semester. As for better deals and other lines, this depends on the age of the ship, itinerary, etc. I have clients going on Carnival the first week of August out of NOLA> a 4 day cruise, older ship, standard outside cabin is running about $700 per person. That does include all taxes.

And while the cruise fares were high, because NCL had just recently decided to keep sailing the Sky, you found a great deal where your kids sail free, effectively lowering your total costs to less than $100 per day per person.

So, what's the gripe?

Deals are out there, all one has to do is look for them and be flexible enough to take them when they occur.
