Howdy Folks.

My wife and I will be departing on the Wind on March 27th. Is anyone else booked on this particular sailing?

I'm looking for a bit of advice from some of you that may have taken this cruise before. We are doing the "exotic western" (grand cayman, belize, roatan, cozumel) and looking for the best things to do in each port. If anyone is an experienced scuba diver, we are looking for which one or two ports would be best for diving.

Also, does anyone have a favorite excursion in Cozumel? I've heard that it is very important to chose wisely in this port. Any info that you can offer is great. We've only been on one NCL cruise before, so we are hoping that this one lives up to our previous experience!

Thanks very much!

I've heard from a lot of divers and diving instructors that Roatan and Belize are the best places for diving.
We went snorkeling in Belize (Shark Ray Alley) and it was amazing! In Roatan, we did the Dolphin Encounter which was really neat because it was on a beach, not a pool, and Tabyana Beach Party. You can snorkel in Tabyana, but there isn't that much to see. Just make sure you book an excursion in Roatan, preferably all day, otherwise there really isn't much to do.

COOL! That's what I was thinking about those 2 ports especailly! We went to Santo Domingo on our honeymoon and it was an aweful stop. I really wished that we had done some sort of excursion there. I was thinking about scuba diving in Roatan and maybe the Cave Tubing in Belize. I'm torn whether to do that or see the ruins in Belize. Oh the choices! No matter what...I think it will be a good time!

Zenora...when where you last on the wind?

The choices really are overwhelming, but you're right, you'll have a great time no matter what. When we did the snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley in Belize, our NCL dive-in instructor was telling us the diving in Roatan was absolutely amazing (Belize was his 2nd favorite). My sister did the cave tubing in Belize, but she didn't have a really good time. I think it was mainly because she was expecting something different and she's really not into outdoor activities. Other people that went on that excursion said it was a lot of fun. We were torn between the cave tubing and Shark Ray Alley in Belize, but I couldn't pass up swimming with Sting Rays and Nurse Sharks. Also, if you do the cave tubing in Belize, keep in mind that the bus trip is a little over an hour long. The boat ride to Shark Ray Alley was also a little over an hour too. A lot of people were surprised/upset at how long it took to get places. It didn't bother us though. Whatever you do, you'll see amazing things.
We were on the Wind Jan 10.

WOW! Thanks for all the great input! I was wondering that about Roatan actually. I've found that our stops at the more remote locations often offer the best diving. For example on our honeymoon we did an NCL Exotic Southern Caribbean out of San Juan. The diving in Dominica was far far better than the diving in St Thomas. I was also wondering about the Cave Tubing and the ammount of time it took. I was thinking that 7 hours seemed like a very long time for a trip like that. I also read a "not so great" review on another message board and then I really started to wonder. I'm also concerned that it will not be warm enough for my wife. The river waters can be very cool this time of year. I will def look into Shark Ray Alley in Belize. That sounds like a lot of fun. We'd also like to see some ruins. Any suggestions on that?

Did you see any monkeys in any of the ports?!?! I'm a monkey freak...I love them. I'd really like to see some wildlife while we're down there. Just like you said....no matter what we do, we'll have a great time and see great things! Can't wait.

If anyone else has any info about the ship or excursions, please don't be shy! I'm researching to make this a great trip for us! Thanks a lot for all your help!
