Hi all,

I've been on several cruises before, but all in warm summer months. I'm going on the Carnival Miracle out of New York to Bermuda in mid-April. Has anyone ever cruised from NY or NJ around this time before, and if so, how are the sea conditions at this time?

I cruised on the very first cruise ever from Bayonne and I believe it was in April several years ago. We started in zero visability fog. I mean from the bow of Voyager of the Seas you could not see the funnel. A friend of mine on that cruise said that the waters up there in the North Atlantic were usually pretty rocky but on our cruise the water was like glass. I am sure someone will have better info but that was my experience.

We were on the Miracle 2 1/2 years ago. She's a great ship....but then what ship isn't great :?

I can't tell you about sea conditions. I think that's hard to determine anyway. I CAN tell you it "will probably" be chilly in April, not only leaving from here, but in Bermuda also. Bermuda is NOT a Caribbean island. I was in Bermuda over Memorial Day weekend one year and it was chilly. Just be sure to bring some layered warm clothes (i.e. sweaters and sweat shirts/jackets) I am sure you will have a great cruise! And Michael is right~you are going to LOVE the Miracle!

I went on the Dawn to Bermuda last year...mid May. The sea was absolutely awful...really awful....both ways. It was so bad I vowed never to sail again. (The first morning out the ship looked like a ghost town because so few people left their cabins. :() But, others on the ship, who had made the trip before said that the seas were extremely bad compared to other sailings.

However, I heard that the next week the sea was smooth as glass. So it's hit and miss.

As far as the weather...it was great walking around weather. People were on the beach...but it wasn't hot that you wanted to dive in.
