I have been on KFT and was very impressed.  You can't go wrong with either but the deal is a deal.  Go with the deal.  Major Marine has slower boats so it takes a bit longer and some tours aren't offered (Northwestern Glacier and the Aialik with Fox Island).  Both, I am told, have excellent narrators and you will not have to pay extra for lunch on KFT (although you won't be able to pig out as on Major Marine--but you shouldn't  pig out while on the open seas).
