Negative Comments abount Nativeway

I've been checking out a couple of the other cruise boards and have heard a few negative reviews of Nativeway Water Sports in Grand Cayman. I booked a stingray/grand island tour for 8 people. It took them about 2 weeks to reply. When they did reply they got the tour that I wanted mixed up and only reserved 4 spaces instead of 8, so I had to e-mail and cancel the tour she reserved for us and bring the mistake to her attention. My husband said that if they didn't care enough to get the info right that they wouldn't care about giving us a good tour. He wanted to book with someone else but after reading all the good reviews I thought I'd give them a try. There are two really bad reviews on the same board from two different people. One of the reviews said that they were left waiting on the dock. Someone on the dock called Nativeway for them because Nativeway was over an hour late. Both say that they almost missed their tender back to the ship even though they were told that the tour would end at 1:45. From what I understand, these are very recent within the past month. Maybe they have hired new people. I'm not sure if I should cancel and go with another company. Anyone out there can vouch for Nativeway? Any help would be great.

We had Nativeway in our March cruise and it was AWESOME!

We went out to stingray sandbar and then they took us to the reef to snorkel. They were all so nice and helped anyone out that needed help (ie: supplied life vests, snorkeling gear, etc...). They made a DVD of the tour and we purchased it and they had it edited and at our ships pursers desk by the time we got back to the ship! And all that in about an hours time.

I have pics on my website if you want to view them: http://kollnfamily.com/Inspirationcruise.htm. Just go to the 1st day and click the Grand Cayman pictures link.

I have not used NativeWay, but I do hear much more good about them than bad (in fact, dont think I have read a single negative thing at this site about them). There are several other options in GC if you decide to use a different tour company. Look into Captain Marvins and Soto's. Heck, email NativeWay with your concerns, maybe they can either shed more light on the issue or put your mind at ease. Tell them you what you have read, tell them you are bothered by the length of time it took them to respond to your reservation request (then goofed it up) and tell them you are considering using a different company... see what they have to say. Many dont like that approach (and Im not suggesting to do it in a nasty manner) but many times they can provide more info that helps to explain the situation. Who knows, maybe they were experiencing internet problems? It always works for me, and I get to see if they truly value my business or not.

Thanks guys. I will e-mail them. Great idea. Out of all the boards, cruise-addicts is the best. Everyone is always so helpful.

If you decide against NativeWay, go with Captain Marvins. We used them and had a fantastic time! Highly recommended.

Captain Marvins has alwaysa treated us great. We've used them 3 times now and are booked with them for our 4th time in January. Can't seem to get enough of hanging with the sting rays.

I haven't used them yet, but

I have emailed both Nativeway and Capt. Marvin's, and CM got back to me right away, and welcomed more questions and emails, which I did- I have emailed CM several more times, and have gotten responses with in a day or so. I am still waiting for Nativeway-and it's been at least a week.
Good luck with your decision!

Re: I haven't used them yet, but

Native Way has responded to me in less than 24 hours everytime. I havebooked them because of referrals and they have the best price to boot.

love Nativeway!!!!!
We are booking them for the second time in a row, and can not wait to go again.
So sorry to hear that people did not have a positive experience...but I will never book anyone other than Nativeway.
Our upcoming cruise we have 12 family members going-would never rebook if it was not a 100% terrific experience.
Enjoy-whichever way you decide to go!!!!

I am sailing to Grand Cayman in a little over a week. I contacted Nativeway a couple of times. For sure the first inquiry was missed and I had to send them a reminder. But the reply arrived within 24 hours. This is much better than many other organization.

I booked the Grand Island tour for the four of us. Sharon wanted my credit number as a guarantee for reservation. When I told her that I did not want to send this info via unsecured email. She offered to call me to get this info.

When she called, she repeatedly asked me if I had further questions. She took the time to explain the time differences (Princess actually turn the ship's clock to match the destination's) and the timing of the tour. I especially asked her the multi-million dollar question: can a non swimmer go to Stingray sandbar? She never seems to be rushing to hand up (remember this is long distance call to Canada).

They have been great so far.
