George,

I know that these new perks will not be equally valuable to everyone, but for us the free internet minutes and laundry are great benefits. It remains to be seen what the Michaels "Elite Lounge" will be like, but it is always hard to turn down a free drink! They have also intimated that there will be additional CC perks released later in 2009. I can't imagine what they will be, but I am hoping for more good ones.

I leave on Millie in three weeks, so I'll let you know how the new perks actually went.

I like the laundry , might let you pack a little less for the trip and I have not been know for passing on a free drink. I would like to try the Millie, have been on just one Celebrity cruise, got elite due to my RCCL status.

On the Mercury one gets free access to the T pool on Port days and sea days if there is room.

I'm looking forward to trying everything new in the program early next month.

It's about time that Past passengers on X received a bit more than coupons for the casino and a warm foofoo drink after and hour inline at the CC meeting of senior officers

Bob,

You're right of course. I always prefer my foo foo chilled.

We really ought to cruise together sometime. I think you are the first person ever to say "I'm right"

Booked on the Century in February, anxious to finally try Celebrity. I am also Elite with my RCI Diamond, sounds like the benefits just keep on coming.....

We need one more cruise to become Elite Members. We have a cruise schedule for December 09. Will we receive Elite Members benefits on our December cruise ?

I believe the answer is yes. As I recall, we were given Elite status when we checked in for the cruise that gave us the required number of credits, not after that cruise. The Captain's Club line could answer that in a heartbeat, of course.

Just back off the Mercury. There were 40 something "Elite's" on board and a few cross overs from RCL. Lots of room in a small Michaels club until the last night of a four nighter cruise when hey had to scrounge up a few extra chairs.
This new Benefit was a real bonus. Didn't use the other stuff as was just a quickie cruise.

PS Loved the Merc.

A lot of crew love the Mercury too..small and intimate. Wow, only 40 Elites, that was great! I've never tried Mercury, but I hear she's sweet. Not a fan of Century, but haven't been on her since the refit.

It will be my #9 Celebrity cruise, so I guess next one will be Elite.
Too bad they do not have one category upgrade from Veranda to the Suite, ha, ha

They just don't go on cruises anymore. If you went "Concierge" or in a "Suite" or did a 14 dayer you get extra points to a max of 3 per cruise. So maybe you should check your status and make sure =X= has it correct. I know when they switched over they got ours fouled up and actually never even had some of our early Zenith & Horizon cruises in their records. They still did not get them all right but we had more than enough "Points" to make elite at that time regardless.

We didn't reach elite until after we completed our cruise - We had 9 credits before the cruise and 11 credits and elite status after the cruise (cruise was for 14 nights)

We just returned from Millennium's 16 night Panama Canal crossing, and the new elite benefits were better than we expected. First, the new lounge in Michaels was
well done. In the morning, there was freshly squeezed orange juice, which was a delight, along with freshly made expressos, cappachinos, lattes, etc. In the evenings,
there was a two hour long cocktail hour with a wide selction of beer, wine, and cocktails that were made to order (no warm, watered down stuff). The laundry and internet benefits were better than we expected, since they were per person rather than per room. So, we each got 90 minutes of free internet service and two free bags of laundry. There were all manner of other coupons for discounts in the spa, casino cretits, etc. They were pretty much as existed before, with the exception of a free day in the Persian Garden.

All in all, I believe the upgrades were meaningful and we benefitted from them.

On a totally different subject, the ship really benefitted from the dry dock facelift it got in May. All of the public area carpets are new, as well as the public area furniture.
The conversion to flat screen TVs is not totally complete, but in each port they were busy changing them out in more rooms. We were told they are about 2/3 done.

I'm really not trying to be a smarty pants here - but HONESTLY - isn't this what we used to EXPECT as MINIMUM service on Celebrity? Funny how the marketing money can trick your mind into thinking your getting something special. I mean, okay, the beer/drink was free. LOL. I just refuse to allow them to brainwash me into thinking a couple hundred dollars (tops) of "benefits" makes up for SERIOUSLY cutting quality across the board. My parents didn't raise a fool. No sale RCCL!! Nice try though! Apparently the marketing execs are earning their keep, since most are falling right into line.
