Looking for some help on New Orleans hotels. Fifteen (8 adults, 7 kids, 5 to 11) cruising on the Holiday out of NO on Jan 17. We will be flying into NO on the 16th and all will be staying overnight on the return on the 22nd with 7 staying until the 25th.
Ideally, would like to find a hotel near the french quarter that would shuttle us from the airport and then to the boat and vise versa on the return. I know that's probably to much to expect but maybe someone could help. Any hotel recommendations and info would be appreciated. Also any help on transportation would be appreciated. Anybody else here going to be on this cruise? Thanks for any info!

Hello! I stayed at a very nice hotel in the French Quarter a few years ago. I will have to look up the name and get back to you! Just a word of advice, be sure there are some people who don't want to go sightseeing in the evening to stay back at the hotel with the kids...The French Quarter gets CRAZY once it gets dark, and I would hate for your kids to get a sight of anything going on down there. I was 17 when I went and I was closing my eyes left and right. I will get back to you with my hotel name! Have a good cruise!

Sorry that I can't offer much info about the French quarter, but we stayed once at Spring Hill Suites with great results. Nice, spacious rooms, off street parking, 2 blocks from the Riverwalk and reasonably rates for downtown. Huge windows. We also stayed at the Hilton Riverwalk and we were very disappointed. Smaller, more expensive rooms, shower heater leaked from the shower upstairs, dirty linens and the toiletries has been used (mouthwash). To compensate for the disasterous stay they did pay the fee for off street parking but we paid $50.00 more to stay there, NOT worth it. The beds were full sized but hubby and I swore they were the smallest full sized beds we have ever stayed in. Good luck and let us know what you find on the French Quarter and how you like it :) Nan

I think it would be worth your while to check www.biddingfortravel.com (a Priceline "how-to" bid-reporting board). I just got a great deal on a resort hotel in San Juan, and with that many people, you stand to save a lot.

I stayed at the Wyndam Bourbon Orleans in NO last your. A very cool old hotel 2 blocks from Jackson Square. (It's also supposed to be haunted!)

By joining Wyndam by Request (free to join) we were upgraded to a suite and had wine & cheese waiting for us in the room...
