Thanks Connie...
We will be on the Constellation in July...different route (Baltic) of course...and found that very informative...
I think the passenger make-up varies cruise to cruise...
Our 2003 Millennium cruise had less than 50% Americans...with about 1000 passengers from Continental Europe (mostly France and Spain)...but our July 2005 Constellation cruise was well over 90% English speaking (American,s Canadians, British and Australians) and our March 2005 on the Constellation had to be 90%+ American...

Looking forward to this one quite a bit...

I figured out after reading the Sunday paper, why the odd mix of passengers. With the US dollar so weak and the recession, and the Euro so strong, ditto the Canadian dollar, there were far less Americans. Makes sense.

Conniemc:

I also read your response on the Port in Panama. Our cruise in March on the Constellation is the same exact route that you took. The rainforest excursion that you took. Was that the walking rainforest nature and wildlife tour offered by the cruise line? What can you tell me about Cartagena port? Is there a straw market at the pier? We were thinking of not booking a tour there since nothing really appealed to us. I would appreciate your input.

I personally would not book a tour in Cartegena. I heard no good feedback from fellow passengers. However, the duty free shops and gorgeous park off the pier are worth seeing. If you can't find the park, ask. It has huge tables with umbrellas to sit under, with "golf course" grass and loud tropical birds overhead....very pretty. Don't know about straw, but the store I went into had an excellent selection of souveniers. I picked up some marble boxes, jewelry, etc. I can e-mail you pics of whatever you want to see....just pm me your e-mail.

This is the tour I took and loved in Panama.

Few spots in the world can match both the accessibility and marvelous variety of plants, birds and animals that are found in Panamas rainforests. With its huge expanses of tropical forest, the Isthmus of Panama is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. Over 900 different species of birds call Panama home and 125 different animal species are found only in this spectacular country. Get an early start on this incredible nature journey when you travel by air-conditioned motor coach across the face of the Gatun Locks to the western shores of the Panama Canal and the former U.S. Fort Sherman. Once home to the U.S. Armys elite jungle-training school, this area has some of the most magnificent coastal rainforest reserves in Panama. During the tour, you will slowly stroll along some of the remote forest trails escorted by a trained naturalist guide. You will have an opportunity to see an amazing variety of birds as well as hear their raucous calls. Mammals too, such as howler monkeys, anteaters, and agoutis inhabit this park, and we may have a chance of seeing some of these and other creatures during our jungle visit. The rainforest will come alive as your guide explains this intricate environment and its many inhabitants. Minimum age to participate is 6 years old.
