Hi All! We will be cruising on the Sensation July 8th.. My mother is Driving me crazy with worry though lol. She paid for all 5 of us (& herself) to go on this cruise & is driving me nuts with everything I need lol.

That isnt the point of this post though lol. I just came up with a question I can not seem to find the answer for via Google so I figured I would just ask...

We are not going to need a passport or anything for this cruise, DL is enough.. But my husband has our old address on his license (bad I know but it is a CDL & expensive here to change) and my address is our old PO Box... Neither of which are on file w/ Carnival... they have our current address..

SO What should we do? I can probably get mine changed before the cruise but I am not sure about his. Should I just bring a bill with me with our address & names on it? Or will this not be a problem?

TYIA for any info!!

Raised seal or certified birth certificate.
Call Carnival and explain what you have stated here and find out if the documentation that you currently have is acceptable. Get names or better yet see if you can get the requirements emailed to you, then as long as you meet those requirements there should be no issues. Also go up on line, create an account with Carnival, do your immigration forms, print your boarding passes and you should be set.

boB is right. A DL is not enough. You will need an original Birth Certificate or a copy with a raised seal. Now is the time to find out what you need for sure. If you show up at the pier and you don't have what you need, you could be denied boarding!!
BTW, welcome to Cruise @ddicts!!

Thanks Guys! I do Have all our Birth Certificates (originals) So that shouldnt be a problem.. I just read where I had to have a Signed letter from my Ex husband saying I can take my 2 older kids on the cruise.. Not sure what the deal is with that but I went ahead & got it anyways.. (my 2 older are from him & have his last name still)

Anyway thank you so much for your help!! I will give them (carnival) a Call in the AM.. oh & I already checked in & Did all the papers.. registered the kids and everything.. Well except my daughter because she is in my Moms Room & on her account.. So I cant register her, my mom would have to and she is not legal guardian or anything.. SO I shall do that on board!! I CANT WAIT!!

>>>>my 2 older are from him & have his last name still

That is a prime reason that you need the letter of permission, also you are taking them out of the country so unless you have other documentation that allows you to do this you basically need his permission. Also if anything would happen to them it would aid in allowing you to make medical decisions without having to contact him and waste valuable time if it were the case. Last thing you want is to be in a foreign country and hear you do not have the authority, I know, pain in the butt but when you have situations like this you want to cover that butt.
Other than that look forward to enjoying your cruise...........

I may be wrong on this, so if one of our "Legal" minds could elaborate, it may be helpful.

I believe that at this time you can still cruise round trip without a Passport. However, if something were to happen and you had to fly home, it could be quite a hassle without a Passport!! Has anyone had any experience with such a situation??

It would be a nightmare to miss the ship when it leaves port. That is why the wife and I got passports for our second cruise in 2008. On our first cruise, a family missed the ship at our second/last port of call in Progresso on a 5 day cruise. Their mishap was the talk of the Dining room that night.

You need something with your picture for ID and it must match your other info.
Your name and address must match.
Here is some info:
CRUISE TRAVEL

U.S. Citizens

Carnival highly recommends all guests travel with a passport (valid for at least six months beyond completion of travel). Although a passport is not required for U.S. citizens taking cruises that begin & end in the same U.S. port, travelling with a passport enhances your disembarkation experience, as delays may be expected upon your return to the U.S. if you do not have one. Additionally, passports make it easier for you to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port should you miss your scheduled port of embarkation, or need to fly back to the U.S. for emergency reasons.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) allows U.S. citizens (including children) sailing on cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port to travel with one of the following WHTI compliant document:

Valid U.S. Passport
Original or suitable quality copy of a Birth Certificate
Certificate of Naturalization
Passport Card
Enhanced Driver's License (EDL)
Trusted Traveler Program Membership Card, e.g., Nexus Card, Sentri Card or Fast Card
A government-issued photo ID is also required for all guests, including children 16 and over. For more information, a complete list of WHTI-compliant documents or to obtain a passport application, visit Welcome to Travel.State.Gov.
