We were on the Grand last summer. A charge of $10 per person per day for Dining and Stateroom Personnel will be automatically added to your passenger shipboard account. You can go to the Purser's desk and adjust on the last night of the cruise if you feel it necessary. Gratuities for other shipboard staff such as the casino dealers and spa personnel will be at your discretion. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to all bar tabs to cover the bar staff.
Pool question answered by others, nothing to add.
You may bring your own wine on board but one piece of advice, carry it on yourself and don't put it in your luggage. I have heard several times about the bottles getting broken in transport. The way Princess load's luggage on/off the ship I would not put anything in my luggage that can break.
Have had several balconies on Princess Grand Class ships (Star, Diamond, Grand, Golden & Sapphire) with never a problem. Doesn't bother us that others can look down. Only way to avoid this situation is book a cabin that doesn't have a balcony above. Only way you can figure this out is by going to the Princess web site and look ath the ship layouts prior to booking then request a particular cabin. FYI, we have never had trouble with other passengers on balconies above us.
The answer to the icecream being free is yes and no. Yes, if you get it in the buffet around the times stated in the previous posts. No, if you want you can buy it from an icecream parlor between the Calypso and Neptune pools on the Lido deck (deck 14). They sell Haagen-Dazs icecream and other sundaes for a price. You can charge it to you shipboard account.
Pizza is free. They serve it on the Lido Deck just forward of the Neptune pool.
Juices are like icecream, free and not free. It just depends when you want them. During the breakfast hours you can get them at the buffet for free. Want them in the afternoon/evening and at most locations around the ship you will probably have to pay for them. Only thing that is really free all the time is water, coffee and ice tea.
Hope this helps out.
