New To Princess

Hi, I have been on 6 cruises over the years, but my husband has never been on one. I wanted to take him on the honeymoon we never got to have this December, and while I was leaning toward RCI lines, I have been reading that the food has not been up to par. I looked into the possibility of the Caribbean Princess, and wondered what you all thought of the food on this line? Also, I am looking for a more adult cruise. I know nothing about the Princess ships. I know it will be a new ship this year, and I want this to be special for us, any thoughts???

There will be plenty of people to offer up on this..My husband had never cruised ,nor been able to have a vacation in his life!!!.I got re-married and 2 and a Half years later we were able to go on our Honeymoon cruise in 2001..our best friends who stood up for us came and were on the other side of the Hall..it was the best ever.I am Italian and very fussy for good Italian food..The waitstaff is wonderful to the passengers on Princess and ALL the head chefs are ITALIAN..never ,ever had a bad meal in 10 years on Princess..IMHO they do excellent..The decor of the ship is Quietly elegant and we never run out of things to do..or just veg out..Good luck with your research..as you can see from my Siggy we are all booked for our next back to back on the Golden Princess and researching 2007 for a 15 day Hawaii cruise on the Island Princess..Have fun!!!...:grin..we adore Princess...:)..Joanne

Just to co-sign what cruise cutie has said in regards to Princess, we adore Princess too. We have been loyal passengers since 1994. We love the soft elegance of Princess ships and have been very satisfied with the food and service. So far, we never had a bad cruise experience on this cruise line. Happy cruising to you and yours ! :thumb

We couldn't agree with Cruise Cutie more. We will be taking our 6th cruise with Princess next week. Never been disappointed about a thing while onboard their ships. For a truly great and memorable cruise experience, you can't go wrong sailing on a Princess ship.
Everyone has their individual preferences, but I think that anyone that has sailed on Princess will tell you that you certainly get outstanding value for your dollar when cruising aboard their ships. The ships are immaculately maintained, the service is always friendly and attentive, and the food and entertainment are both excellent.

WOW! Thank you, thank you... This makes me feel so much better. I have a catalog for Princess, but of course, it does not show the Caribbean Princess yet. We love Italian food, so this sounds perfect. My husband is partially disabled, and we have not gotten the chance to get away yet. We were high school sweethearts driven apart by parents in the 60's. Thirty years later we got together, and have made up for lost time. The only thing missing was our honeymoon. I am hoping to surprise him and give him the best time possible. Your comments make me believe that is possible. I'm anxious to book one, now I just have to figure out which one would suit us. Good luck in your trips as well!

I can relate to the surprising the husband. I'm taking my husband on the Caribbean Princess on May 1st sailing as a surprise for his 50th b-day that week. We've only sailed one other time and it was on the Sun Princess in 1997 on a cruise I won. It was awesome and we loved it. I wouldn't even think of trying another ship line. We had a balcony room on the Sun and I splurged and did the same again on this one. Good luck on keeping your surprise. I haven't told as of yet.

Ditto to everything said above... we love Princess too. Always had a wonderful time sailing their ships. Would book them again in a heartbeat. I had only one small (and I do mean small ) complaint and that was their day time activities seemed to be sparse. I really like doing the cheesy game show stuff, and card tournaments, things like that where you get to meet and have fun with other cruisers. Never could get a card game when on Princess, even when I left a bulletin with my cabin # on it in the card room. Never seemed to be any games going on in there when I would check. Anyways, no biggie, we traveled with friends so we played cards with them when we had the urge. You will love this line, they will definitely meet and exceed your expectations. If you have specific questions, feel free to email me.

I have not booked yet, but plan to book the Golden Princess for January 2005 Southern Caribbean, together with my sister. I have a couple of cabin questions: Where are the best cabins with the best balconies...Is it worth it to get a minsuite as opposed toa regaulr cabin? The one "burning" question I have is "How does one get upgraded?" I hear so much on these pages about upgrades but have no idea how to arrange that? Appreciate any help I can get

We love Princess too.

About the upgrades--I'll give it a try. The first rule is that you book the minimum accommodation with which you will be happy. The rest is a conglomeration of factors, like your Travel Agent, your Princess Captain's Circle status, how full that sailing particularly sailing is, how much you paid for the cabin you selected.

You can try the "guarantee" route--you book a cabin as a guarantee that that's the minimum you will accept. If and when you are offered an upgrade, keep in mind that you may not want the cabin offered and, if so, decline it as quickly as possible.

Good luck, and welcome to Princess.

Thank you everyone. I must admit I had some concerns, especially after I learned that Carnival merged with Princess, and I have not had the best experience on Carnival. You have all put my mind at ease, and I look forward to this cruise very much. I look forward to hearing all your comments if you cruise on this ship. Thanks again!
