New w/ many questions about infant

I wasn't sure where to post this so I'm doing it in multiple places:

Hello everyone. I'm carrie, and my husband and I are traveling next month on the Carnival Triumph with our 6 month old (he will be at the time) infant. We have lots of questions, and I am in severe need of advice. I'm leaning on all of you experts for all the help you can offer. First of all, my husband and I have ZERO expectations. We realize that we are doing this with an infant and that nightclubs and other types of social activities are probably out of the question. I am simply just in need of 8 days (whooo hooo) to have someone else cook the food (can I hear an Amen!?) Since he is still breastfeeding, we cannot go anywhere for long without him, so in my eyes any vacation with a baby is better than sitting at home with a baby!

1. Am I out of my mind for doing all this with an infant?

2. How do I get him in some sort of water? I am told that he will not be allowed in any sort of pool with his swimmie diaper and elastic waisted pants. Should I take a tiny baby pool? Has anyone else seen a baby pool onboard

3. In Cozumel, we are thinking of going to the Chankanaab Park because we feel it will be a little more low key while still getting to see some pretty wildlife. Has anyone been here since the hurricane? Is it still as beautiful? If so, is it stroller friendly?

4. In Grand Cayman, we are thinking of going to the Stingray City (the tour says it takes infants) and we were going to take turns getting off the boat to see the Stingrays. Is this even feasible?

Also, I am more than willing to take any suggestions anyone wants to offer about cruising with the baby. So far, he's been on several flights and trips, so I'm not worried about the travel...more about the unknown.

Thanks to all! Happy Cruising!
Carrie

Inflatable pools are good, but remember space is limited and so I might suggest an inflatable tub so it fits better between your lounge chairs.

A small inflatable tub to use for swimming. Locate it close to the shower area of the pools. That way it wont be hard to full and empty.
DOnt empty it on th edeck-- take it to the shower area.

Pack as much diapers and everything else you will need for him. Diapers--if you can find them onboard will be expensive.

You can use the camps-- after 10pm for a fee. $6.00 an hour.
For $6.00 it will give you ME time to spend with your honey.

Use 60 SPF for the baby-- sun is powerful especially of doing water stuff.

Cribs onboard willbe using pack and plays- bring your own sheets as these can be rather rough on the baby.

You have to pay full 3rd price fare for the baby- sad- but lots of people think babys are free and are suprised at the amount of money they must pay. Costa sometimes offer kids sail free cruises.

We booked the stingray city tour through Captain Marvin's on Grand Cayman. It was the best excursion we have ever been on. My daughter, who was 10 at the time, stayed on the boat the entire time we were swimming with the stingrays. She just wasn't interested.

So, yes it is feasible but you probably should book through a smaller private tour company instead of going through the cruiseline. The boats the cruise lines use to get you to stingray city are really really big and hold a ton of people. We only had 10 people on our boat and it was a lot easier to get on and off. Just a thought.

Yes, we've booked through Captain Marvin's. Everyone has really great things to say about them. I talked to the receptionist there, and she said that it would be no problem for my husband and I to alternate getting in the water.

Thanks to all!

Not at all. Out of your mind would be using the baby as an excuse to stay home when you could be on a cruise!! :D

check out website - has coupon for park

Remember - you will have to take all your own baby food, formula, diapers, etc.

Enjoy!

We are also taking a cruise this May on the Liberty with our daughter and son-in-law and they have a baby that will be 5 months at the time of the cruise. My daughter is also still breastfeeding. We have been trying to plan everything as best we can to make the trip enjoyable for everyone. I'm glad you posted so we can pickup some fresh ideas too. If you have tips for on the plane please share those too.
