Hi,
My family of four has just booked the Adventure for March 2nd departure. We have never been on a crusie before so I am excited and nervous all in one!

I hAVE A few questions I hope someone can help me with... Does the adventure have a safe in the cabin?

I booked through a travel agent he said once we get to San Juan someone will be there to take us to the ship (transfer is included in the price) How the heck do we know who we are looking for?

Last one...we have connecting flights from Toronto to Chicago to San Juan the times seem pretty tight has anyone done this without a problem?
(Toronto 6:25 AM arrive in Chicago at 7:08 AM leave at 8:00AM)

Can someone please put my mind to rest...:help:help

Thanks,
familygal

Welcome!

Yes, there is a safe in your room. When you get to the San Juan airport, go to the luggage retrieval area and get your checked baggage. In that area there will be several cruise lines represented. Their reps will have large signs with the names of the lines / ships. You can't miss them. They will escort you to a waiting area, and then to a bus that will carry you to the ship.

I have flown through O'Hare many times, and I would definitely be concerned about having less than an hour leaway between flights. I'd check with my TA about alternatives. And, I would definitely have travel insurance.

Good luck. You're going to love your cruise.

thanks Ted!

Yes we insurance. I checked with my TA and he said the next flight is later. He seems to think it will not be a problem. I am still a little nervous!

Did you book the air on your own or thru the cruise line?? If on your own I would do some more research & try to find another flight you are more comfortable with...of course your TA isn't worried S/he is not the one who might miss their flight...

Any chance of flying in a day early?? Weather that time of year can be unpredictable to say the least..

As I already said, I have traveled through O'Hare many times. Depending on gate assignments, it can take you 45 minutes to walk from one end of the terminal to the other. So, having less than an hour between your connections is really, really cutting it close, EVEN IF the first flight arrives on time. If it is late, you risk missing the ship. I'd press your TA for a change if it is at all possible. Or,as Kasey has suggested, going down a day early will take a lot of stress out of the entire trip if that is an alternative.

Ted,
would it make a difference if both flights are United Airlines? (When we fly out of Toronto it is United Airlines connecting to United Airlines at O'Hare)I am hoping that we will not have to do as much walking or check in...maybe I am dreaming...

Kasey, the TA booked the flight I am not sure if it is with the cruise line, he said someone will be at the airport to pick us up...I am new at the cruise thing...so far the "Land" vacations give me less stress. Maybe once I get through the first one I will change my mind =COOL

My two cents... Are your seats assigned on the first flight? Hopefully they are in the front of the plane so you can get off quicker. Having flown in and out of O'Hare more times than I care to admit, as soon as you get off your first flight, I would ask the rep at the desk of that gate to call to the gate you are going to and ask them to hold the plane. Then, RUN!!!!!!! They will usually wait an extra minute or two to accomodate.

One other thing, and I hate to bring this up, but you will be flying into Chicago when they will still have snow on the ground. So will Toronto for that matter. Either flight could fall victim to delay or cancellation due to the weather. Realities of living where it snows I guess.

Newbie,

My family & I just completed an Aug. 2007 cruise on Adventure. Yes, there are safes in the cabins. I would recommend you try rescheduling your flights & stay at least one night in San Juan prior to your cruise. We decided to play it safe & arrive in San Juan two days prior to our cruise. It was the best decision I could have made. By the time Sunday rolled around for our cruise, everyone was well rested & best of all, if there was any inclement weather forecasted for San Juan, we were already in Puerto Rico.

Enjoy your cruise! We'll going again in Aug. 2008, but sailing on a different course.
