ALTHOUGH WE HAVE 68 DAYS LET UNTIL OUR VERY FIRST CRUISE WE ARE ALREADY DISCUSSING PLANNING OUR NEXT CRUISE.. WE ARE DOING A 7 DAY CW ABOARD THE GRAND... AND MAY THINK ABOUT DOING AN EASTERN CARIB NEXT DECEMBER. I HAVE FOUND PRINCESS TO BE THE BEST PRICE FOR BALCONIES, AFTER DOING MUCH RESEARCH ROYAL CAR SEEMED TO BE MUCH HIGHER PRICED.. BUT I HAVE HEARD INCREDIBLE THINGS ABOUT ROYAL CARR. ANY INPUT ON WHAT LINE ANYONE PREFERS OVER ONE OR ANOTHER? ANY OTHER PRINCES SHIPS ANYONE RAVES OVER, I HAVE HEARD THE GOLDEN IS VERY NICE AS WELL. FOR US THE PORTS OF CALL ARE OUR BIGGEST PRIORITY. ANYONE HAVE ANY COMMENTS VERSES EASTERN AND WESTERN CARR VOYAGES??

Hi:
My husband and I have taken about 30 cruises so far; and our next one is booked for next summer to Alaska on the Island Princess. This year we went to Hawaii on the Sun Princess and to Bermuda on the Carnival Pride. Believe it or not, RCCL (Royal Caribbean) is my favorite cruise line of them all. We were going to take a RCCL ship to Alaska next summer, but we got a better deal on the balcony and for being a past passenger with Princess, than we did with RCCL. We're Diamond Members with Royal Caribbean and we've cruise them the most because they seem to be just perfect our us. We've tried about five or six cruise lines and they're the ones we always return to; but the past three bookings I've made have not been with them; either because of the itinerary or the prices. In the past, we've taken a RCCL cruise to Hawaii and it was much better than the one we took this year on Princess. The reason we went Princess this year was that it left and returned from the west coast and we didn't have to endure the long plane ride both ways. We live in the midwest and we're not close to anything.
If you have any questions on anything, I'd be glad to help you out if I can. There are people on the cruise message boards who have cruised a lot more than myself; but I'm going to keep cruising until I catch up with them. We've been on Princess, Carnival, RCCL, NCL, and Disney.
Happy Cruising....Anita

We will be doing the Grand on December 7 also. Last December we did the Eastern Carribbean on the Golden. I found that Princess seems to have the best prices for balconies especially sailing either the first or second week in December. That is one reason we choice to do the Grand this December. Now my personal choice I like the eastern itinery better because of more sea days. It is all in what you like. Lots of ports or more sea days.

I think since we have never cruised before, i cant realy say what i like more just yet, for the time being we chose a cruise instead of a traditional resort vacation because we get to see more places. I may at the end of this cruise decide that i like the ship better than the ports. Ususally we vacation at a all inclusive resort, which for us works out because uts truly vacation, no tax, no tipping its all there. We spent quite a bit more than we normally do to cruise, but we figured we get to see three different places. Since you have cruised so much more than I have you ever gotten better deal from rcl than princess, when we booked this cruise we paid 727 p/p all govt tax, yada yada included plus 100 shipboard credit. When we looked at rcl for basically the same itinerary it was almost 925 p/p. The problem I think we may have is that since this is our first cruise, we will base all future cruises on this one. Like the first time you eat something, thats how it supposed to taste, kind of deal.So hopefully pricess will meet our expectations.

I love Princess, to date have done 27 Princess cruises, and have several more booked:

11/19/2003 - Coral Princess
12/16/2003 - Island Princess
1/10/2004 - Sun Princess
3/8/2004 - Royal Princess (tentative)

Check out the post below about what Princess does well and doesn't do well.

All cruise lines do something really well. IMO, Princess does atmosphere well. RCI does ship design well. The two are very different. Neither is better, just different. Depends on what you want out of a cruise.
