I've done northbound twice and southbound once (cruise only on all 3), and I prefer northbound. As others have noted the scenery just gets more spectacular as you head north. Southbound is gorgeous as well; however, I prefer northbound. I like sailing out of the Port of Vancouver and the leisurely first day cruising the Inside Passage. It's a nice laid-back day where I've gotten to know the ship and my fellow passengers before we hit ports and the wonders of the glaciers.Only drawback to northbound for me is the long, long flight back to Tampa Bay from Anchorage.Either direction an Alaskan cruise is hard to beat!
