My husband and I are going on this cruise too. We have been too all of these ports several times but we're more snorkel people than divers.

We probably wont even get off the boat in Puerto Rico. St Thomas we will do Trunk Bay again -it is so beautiful. St Marrten no clue yet been there done that .. and Tortola we did the Virgin Gorda last year so looking for something different this time around.

We have been on many cruises Celebrity last year, several RCL, in the beginning many years ago Carnival... I did a singles cruise on NCL about 20 years ago so Im hoping the quality is up tp par on NCL to my other experiences. We have an aft penthouse suite.

This is my 40th Birthday gift so ...looking to have fun! Hope to see you there :)

I have been to St. Marrten many times, however this is the first time via a Cruise. Really looking forward to it. My lovely wife passed last year from cancer at a young age. I have decided this year to celebrate her life and take my mother with me! She is a spry 87 years old and it is about time we did something together!

I want to orchestrate my own excursion on St. Marrten and show her the French and Dutch side from the perspective of my past visits. I would hope I could rent a car cheaply for just 4-6 hours, but I do not want to jeapordize being late for the ship's onboard call. Anyone had any experience with this cruise delemma, or should I just check in to the commercial excursion offered. Thanks, and hope have fun!

Oh, and as far as the snorkle/scuba there, On the French side, Bay Rouge area is somewhat sparce but some beautiful outcroppings w/lots of species. Dutch, the water off Pelican Bay (Casino and condo's) rocks is best and then there is the water off of the Mullett Bay Golf Course which is exceptional.

Happy birthday!!! We have been on several NCL cruises but this is the first one from NYC. My daughter is the diver so she has that planned in St. Marrtin and Tortola. We have never been to any of these islands so it will be an adventure. I hear the aft penthouse suites are awesome with a big balcony.

Hi Charlyv. Sorry it took me so long to respond. You shouldn't have a problem with making your own excursion in St. Marrten as long as you watch the clock. The ship excursions tend to be expensive but there should be plenty of tour companies and taxis looking for business at the pier. My daughter is going scuba diving in St. Maarten so my husband and I will probably hang around or go shopping. Check out Cruisecritic for more forums listing people that will be on our cruise.
