Could use a little help. Myself and my cousin and her 13 yr old daughter. Its time on NCL. Booked room 923( has concierge service available). Need to know if it is worth using the service.? Also have heard that the food at the buffet- hot food is cold and cold food is often hot?

This is my first time on NCL - have traveled Disney and Royal Caribbean. Looking forward to the freestyle dining.

Can anyone give me some insight before we leave.

I have had clients sail the Majesty and loved it, but seems this ship is a love/hate thing with little inbetween. She was not designed for freestyle, she is quite a bit older than the rest of NCLs fleet and will soon be leaving as many know. That being said many cruisers use her yearly for a cruise to Bermuda so she must have some positives. I am trying to put a damper on your upcoming cruise, but just want you to know the Majesty is not true freestyle cruising even though you still have dining options and can decide when and where you want to eat, plus deciding for yuorselves if you want to dress up or down. As for concierge service, that depends on the cost. We have had CC about 3 or 4 times, only once did we get much that made it worth anything; we had a conceirge that was almost our personal servent. I know we were not the only one using him, but we sure felt like we were.

Now, go, have a wonderful time and remember each line has a nitch. I am sure what you loved about RCI you didn't find on Disney and what Disney may offer you won't find on NCL etc. Another thing that I always try to rememvber is what I am paying for a cruise. Disney generally gets great reviews, but you pay top dollar to sail her. NCLS newer ships come with a higher price tag. Some of RCI ships are out of line in my opinion, their older ships are priced right but don't offer the amenities the newer ones do.

Thanks Nita. I am sure that we will have a wonderful time, because we are going for a vacation and any time away from home or work is fun time. As far as the Freestyle- I really am not worried- we have already decided to try each restaurant, so we will feel as if we are dinning in a different place each night. Thanks you so much for answering my question.... and I am looking forward to The Majesty- small and intimate is the way to go.

You have the right attitude for having a great cruise.

I enjoyed my only cruise on the Majesty, which was to Bermuda.
It sails to St. George, and Bermuda is so beautiful.

I know you can have a great cruise, although the Majesty is the smallest and oldest ship in NCL's fleet today.
Small and old doesn't necessarily mean obsolete, just not equipped with as many amenities as newer, larger ships.
But that also means you're not sharing the ship with over 2,000 other passengers, just up to 1,500 other passengers.

We had another cabin in the same AB category, also on Deck 9, on our N. Majesty cruise in 2006. There's no extra charge to use the concierge service, other than a gratuity, if you'd like to extend one. We found our concierge most helpful. She stopped by every day to find out if we had any questions, she made reservations for us in the specialty dining rooms, and gave many ideas as to what to do onshore. We also had a very lovely party with other pax in suites. As there are about two dozen suites on N. Majesty, service from the concierge can be attentive. I'm happy to answer any questions. She is my favorite ship that is currently sailing... we've been onboard four times and will miss her terribly.

Thank you very much. I am starting to get excited. So is my Godchild. I have signed us up for a tour of the entire island , and also a trip to the Zoo/Aquarium. Hope these will be good choices for a 13yr old.

We will probably use the concierge service to make our dinner arrangements. All I can say is it should be fabulous!!!! Thank you for all the tips!

CruiseLady1954, both tours are excellent! Are you doing the Zoo/Aquarium through the cruise line, or on your own? We did it on our own... the public bus goes right there. It was such a highlight for us and our then pre-teen son that we will be making a return visit the next time we are in Bermuda.

The 5-hour NCL island tour is fabulous. You really get the "lay of the land." You won't have much time at each stop, but anything you'd like to see again is easily reached, again by public bus.

I booked both trips through NCL. Glad to hear that the 5 hr trip does have stops even if they are short!!!!
That was the reason for the Aquarium/Zoo- the 13 yr old likes animals- at least I know she'll like one thing .

Thank you for all the help- I will defiantly look into the buses- as I might like to visit the perfume factory.
